Tollywood bigwigs are reaching to Chennai to pay homage to the great romantic hero. Sobhan Babu made his debut in the film Daivabalam but made a name with Veerabhimanyu(1965) which was his first movie as a 'solo hero'. With "Manushulu Maarali", he became a force to recon with and became popular for romantic hero roles thereby earning 'Soggadu of Telugu films' image. His dressing style was a rage in those days. He paired with Jayasudha for 31 times and his most successful combination was with Sharada (20 films). Sobhanbabu's real name is Uppu Shobana Chalapathy Rao and was married to Kantakumari. He had completed his schooling in Kuntamukkula Mylavaram. He pursued his Intermediate in Vijayawada and finished his degree in Vijayawada. Later, he joined law course in Madras, but discontinued it. Though he was in the glamour field, he did not allow his sons, daughters, brothers or sisters into the film industry. Ragalahari.com extends sympathies with the bereaved family members.
