Piracy has been a constant hurdle for filmmakers and this has got intensified to next level. Vijay Deverakonda’s latest film ‘Geetha Govindam’ which is due for release on August 15 couldn’t escape the clutches of piracy. The pirated version of the film went viral in Guntur area. As soon as the makers of the film came to know about it, they said to have approached Cyber Crime department. On this occasion, the makers have arranged press meet on Monday i.e. on August 13 in Hyderabad.
Speaking at the press meet, Dil Raju said, “Allu Aravind was bit emotional when he was talking about piracy at ‘Geetha Govindam’ pre-release event in Vizag. I felt really bad. I called him personally. He felt really bad about the piracy. He also said that he was upset and wanted to leave film industry. Chiranjeevi garu and Allu Aravind garu are contributing to the industry since 45 years. Piracy is having a huge effect on the film industry. The same thing happened to Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Attarintiki Daredi’ also. Police arrested few people and three engineering students for sharing the film’s footage. Technology is improving day by day and will help to find out piracy culprits.”
Gemini Kiran said, “Earlier, we used to warn piracy culprits after the release of the film. But, these days, film are getting pirated even before the release. Many people who are doing this piracy are working people for the reputed organisations. What if we produce them before the media. I caution you not to face such circumstances. I request everyone not to encourage piracy.”
KL Damodar Prasad warned, “Piracy is a big crime. We will take legal action on the persons who uploads the pirated copies. We will book criminal cases against the offenders. It may spoil their careers. We have anti-piracy cell in Chamber.”
Bunny Vasu said, “Director Bujji and I worked hard day and night for one and half years for this film. I have a 6-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter. It’s been 12 days since I met them. We came to know that the film was leaked when we are doing re-recording work. When we enquired, we came to know that it occured in Guntur area. City police officials have arrested 18 students. Because of the technology improvement, we can identify where the pirated film was uploaded. We invest crores of rupees to make a film. We don’t hesitate to spend one more crore to combat piracy. Israel team is working on this issue.”
Parasuram said, “To make a film, the director has to narrate the script for over hundred times. Many new directors are coming. We must stay up-to-date with industry trends to survive in this field. We have to cross many hurdles to make a film. This piracy has become another hurdle for us. I request all eminent people to take required actions on this issue.”
Allu Aravind said, “One side, we are happy that we are bringing a good film to audience and on the other hand i am disgusted by this piracy issue. A person who was working for a service provider unit, copied the film ‘Geetha Govindam’ in his laptop and later shared it with his friends and relatives in Guntur and they gave it to engineering students. They might be thinking that, they are sharing this in friendly manner. But, it’s a crime. We feel bad for the students’ arrest. But, we didn’t have any other option.”
Hero Vijay Devarakonda was bit emotional when he was talking about piracy. He said he felt really bad. Vijay Deverakonda said, “We make films to showcase it to everyone. We will eagerly wait for the film to release to see audience reactions. It’s really shocking that piracy prints are being surfaced before the release of the film. If this is the case with big production house like Geetha Arts, then what about small budget films. ‘Pelli Choopulu’ was produced by our team itself. Director Sandeep’s brother has produced the film ‘Arjun Reddy’. I wouldn’t have done ‘Arjun Reddy’ if the same pirated thing happened to ‘Pelli Choopulu’. We invest huge amounts to make a film. We feel bad for the students’ arrest. I caution them not to repeat this again. I request you to not to encourage piracy.”
Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Geetha Govindam is hitting the screens on August 15. ‘Geetha Govindam’ is being made under GA2 Arts banner with Allu Aravind as presenter. Parasuram has directed the film with Bunny Vasu as producer.
