Digital Cinema - The New Revolution


United Film Orgnizers (UFO) is bringing digital projection technology to Andhra Pradesh and it is all ready introduced in Mumbai and Kolkata over 60 and 40 theatres respectively. Sudarshan 70 mm introduces this digital projection system in A.P.


Today they arranged press conference to invite for the demonstration and discussion for a business opportunity in digital cinema at Sudarashan theatre in RTC Cross roads on 29th of Sep for theater owners and distributors and producers.


Kovvuri Bhaskara Rao, proprietor of Sudarshan theatres said, "We are arranging a demo on 29th of this month. Telugu industry big wigs are encouraging this new technology. We are planning to implement this technology nearly 500 theatres. Our company UFO is planning expands this to all over India. The advantages of digital cinema is saving on print and handling costs, no last minute print orders, faster access, long print life, control on piracy and saving in running coasts.


The total cost of the equipment to be installed is around 10 lakhs per theatre. The equipment comes in built with xenon lamp system and DTS sound system. Each server at the theatre is encrypted and marked with a digital water float. And digital video server has the capacity to store ten full length movies". UFO's Shiva Sandilya also spoke on the eve.


Digital Cinema is�

It is a new concept of exhibiting and distributing movies. It uses digital media (DVD, Fibre optics, satellite transmission) instead of analogue media (print) to record, transmit and replay images. Digital Cinema uses digital video projectors instead of analogue projectors. It can store, transmit, retrieve and replay a huge amount of information exactly as it was originally recorded. There is more flexibility in digital cinema as the data can be manipulated at low cost and effectively.
