Lux Sandal Cinemaa Awards 2011 (Set 1)

The Lux Cinema Awards ceremony was held at Novotel Hotel in Hyderabad on Sunday, the 19th June. These awards were presently by MAA TV and Sandal Lux. The stars came down in all their glory. Balakrishna and Kajal won the Best Actor and Best Actress awards for their respective films ‘Simha’ and ‘Brindavanam’. Gautham Menon walked away with the best director award for ‘ye Maya Chesave’, while SS Rajamouli’s ‘Maryada Ramanna’ was declared the best film at the gala event.

The grand gala event was attended by Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, Amala, Dr D Ramanaidu, K S Rama Rao, Dr Mohan Babu, Gautham Menon, Dr K Vishwanath, Dr S P Balasubrahmaniam, Allu Aravind, Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna, Kota Krishnivas Rao, Parachuri Gopalakrishna, Dr Brahmanandam, B Gopal, Boyapati Sreenu, Vamsi Paidipally, Dil Raju, Krish, Sai Kumar, Ram Charan Tej, Srikanth, Manchu Vishnu, Nani, Arya, Vishal, Nisha Agarwal, Roja, Suhasini, Taapsee, Venu Madhav, Sunil, S Gopal, MAA TV director Nimmagadda Prasad and many more.

While many sizzling stars did the cat walk in the event, Allu Arjun, Ishita Singh, Priyamani, Charmi, Vimala Raman, etc., danced for the hit numbers.

Speaking on the dais Sr actress Suhasini said, “Coming to Hyderabad is like coming to my native place. I’m very happy for visiting my native place to receive an award. I thank AVM studios, Sekhar Kammula and MAA TV for selecting me for this award. I’m also happy for S P Balasubrahmaniam who received the Life Time Achievement Award. He did his first film in Tamil with me as his costar.”

Dr Mohan Babu said, “I believe in the director being the captain of the film. Krish has not only handled the ‘Vedam’ subject in a remarkable manner but also crafted each and every character excellently. I’m very happy that my son Manoj is also part of this film.”

Allu Aravind said, “I was moved by the way the film ‘Prasthanam’ was filmed. Hence I immediately figured out the director’s phone number and spoke to him about half an hour, at that time he was in the US. I’m expecting more and more good films from him.”

Dr Brahmanandam said, “I’m very happy to receive this award for my performance in ‘Adhurs’. I take this opportunity to thank VV Vinayak, NTR and MAA TV. On the eve of Father’s Day today, I’m dedicating this award to Late Sri Allu Ramalingayya, whom I consider as my father.”

Nagayya, who received the award for his critically acclaimed performance in ‘Vedam’ thanked Krish for encouraging him and bringing up to this level from a remote village where he was living. He also said that it is a great honor to felicitate Balasubrahmaniam. Later Aali presented him a cast of Rs 5,000/- while Nagarjuna and MAA TV director Nimmagadda Prasad presented him Rs 2 lakhs on behalf of MAA TV.

Sai Kumar said, “I’m very happy to receive this award for my father’s role on Father’s Day. I thank my director Deva Katta and MAA TV on this occasion. This award belongs to the entire team of ‘Prasthanam’ and I dedicate this award to my father P J Sharma.”

Deva Katta said, “Making is movie is the toughest job. I did this film without any wrong note. Hence it received everybody’s accolades. Everyone worked hard with complete dedication. I’m very happy to receive this award.”

Krish said, “The last song in K Vishwanath’s ‘Sagarasangamam’ had inspired me a lot. I thank him for that. I respect this award because it’s a great thing to give an award for Nagayya. ‘Vedam’ film was a small idea. While I was searching for the new talent for this film, Bunny and Manoj came forward to do this film.”

Anushka said, “I never expected that I would be receiving awards in a row. Last year I won the same award for the film ‘Arundathi’ and now for ‘Vedam’. I thank my director and producer on this occasion. It’s Nagarjuna and Puri Jagannath who introduced me to the film industry. I’m very happy to receive this award from them.”

“I dedicate this award to my father since I received it on Father’s Day. I’m experiencing one such feeling for the first time in my life. I thank Dr Mohan Babu garu and K Raghavendra Rao garu for introducing me to the film industry,” Taapsee said.

Gautham Menon said, “It’s my honor to receive this award from Dr Mohan Babu and Nagarjuna. The success of ‘Ye Maya Chesave’ was due to the support from producer Manjula besides A R Rahman’s music and the hard work of other technicians.”

Ram Charan said that he and Rana used to share the same bench from 8th grade onwards. He also expressed his happiness for his friend getting the award.

“This is the first time I sang a song in the presence of Balu garu. So I was a little scared. I thank Balu garu, Balakrishna garu, Nagarjuna garu and many others who have voted me for this award,” Indian Idol Sreeramachandra said.

Balakrishna said, “I’m dedicating this award to Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy which I got for the film ‘Simha’. Among my films, those which have Simha in the title have become great hits. Many have not recognized me in beard and moustache during the making of this film, while I’m doing Sri Ramarajyam with a moustache now. I thank ‘Simha’ director Boyapati Sreenu, my producer and MAA TV on this occasion. I’m honoured to receive this award from K Vishwanath garu. I hope I will receive the same encouragement which was given to my father. It’s a great pride for the Telugu film industry to felicitate Balu garu. He challenged a song in ‘Bhairava Dweepam’. It’s my unforgettable memory in life. I wish to see him sing many more songs in future.”

Dr K Vishwanath said, “This is the most beautiful day I’ve ever seen. All programmes in MAA TV are very impressive. I’m very happy to see my brother receiving this honor. I wish to see him receiving more and more felicitations in the near future.”

S P Balasubrahmaniam said, “I congratulate everyone who has received the awards along with me today. This felicitation is occurring amidst the Telugu film industry which is giving me the bread. I dedicate this award to those who supported me, the audience who have been encouraging me all these years and my friend Late Ramakrishna.”
