Chak De India Ride by Hyderabad Bicycling Club and CII at HITEX

Shri Ajay Mishra flags-off the 'Chak De India Ride' hosted by Hyderabad Bicycling Club & CII

  • Sri Mishra unveiled state-of-the-art bikes with latest technology of Board Computer & GPS 
  • Top honchos Mr Rajanna, Mr Manohar, Mr Shekar Reddy, joined in the 'CEOs & Future Makers Ride'

Hyderabad, August 13th, 2017 : Chief Guest Sri Ajay Mishra, IAS, Spl. Chief Secretary - Energy, Telangana; flagged-off the 3rd edition of 'Chak De India Ride', being jointly hosted by Hyderabad Bicycling Club (HBC) and CII, to celebrate the 71st Indian Independence Day, on Sunday at National Academy of Construction (NAC), HITEX Complex,Madhapur. Also present on the occasion were Mr Navin Mittal, IAS, Principal Secretary - MAUD; Mr Sunil Sharma,IAS; Principal Secretary - R&B; Mr T Chiranjeevulu, Commissioner, HMDA; Mr Rajanna, Chairman - CII, Telangana; Mr D V Manohar, Chairman, Hyderabad Bicycling Club; Mr Bikshapathi, Director General, National Academy of Construction and Mr Shekar Reddy, past President, CREDAI.

Sri Mishra also unveiled HBC’s Demo Bike Station with Smart bikes from Germany. He later joined in the 'CEOs & Future Makers Ride', on the newly unveiled smart bike, on the occasion. He was joined in the ride by Senior officials, Mr Navin Mittal, Mr Sunil Sharma,Mr T Chiranjeevulu, Mr D V Manohar, Mr Rajanna, Mr C Shekar Reddy, Past President, CREDAI; Dr T Satyanarayana Reddy, Vice Chairman, HBC, amongst others. The new bicycles are state-of-the-art bikes with latest technology of Board Computer and GPS. They will be utilized for the Hyderabad Public Bike Sharing System. These Smart bikes are also approved by NDMC for installing in the New Delhi Public Bike Sharing System.

Speaking on the occasion Sri Ajay Mishra said, Mr Manohar toiled to start the Cycling movement and make cycling a culture and habit in the city. His efforts paid off and today Hyderabad is on the global map of cycling. This year he brought the Smart Bicycles to the city, they have Board computer and GPS, making cycling a pleasant experience. Government is doing its bit to encourage cycling in the city, GHMC is planning to lay a cycling track along the Musi river stretch as part of the Musi development plan and HMDA is planning for a cycling track along the ORR stretch and these will be executed in the coming months.

As Hyderabad is gearing up for the inauguration of upcoming Metro Rail across the city, it is imperative to opt for cycling as the first and last mile connectivity mode. HBC, which is the largest Cycling Club in the world online, is in the process of creating the required cycling infrastructure by putting up 500 bike stations across the city. About 10,000 State of the Art Bicycles including e bikes would be positioned at these Bike Stations which would be issued and taken back using swipe card/smart phone technology, says Mr DV Manohar. HBC signed a Tripartite Agreement with Hyderabad Metro Rail and UN Habitat for this project. The Project is totally eco friendly and aimed at considerably reducing the vehicular pollution menace in Hyderabad & make Hyderabad more eco friendly, he adds. He also mentioned that they would be implementing Public Bike Sharing System in New Delhi also soon.

A large number of cyclists from all walks of life along with senior officials and Senior CEOs participated in this year's prestigious event. The event had 5 categories of rides viz., Joy Ride of 5 kms; Chak De India 10 Kms Mass Ride; Chak De India 30 Kms Foundation Ride; Chak De India 60 kms Endurance Ride and Chak De India 100 Kms Country Side Ride. Apart from the above rides, there was an exclusive ride for the CEOs. Chak De India edition 1 & 2 Rides, organized by HBC in the previous two years were also a spectacular success.
