Hyderabad, 18th January 2018: Hyderabad based ArtLife Events in association with Mahavir Motors and Kalamandir Foundation announced its upcoming international theatre show - Red Light Express, in the city today. This play will be performed by 14 young performers, aged 13 – 23 years who were born and raised in Kamathipura, Asia's most infamous red-light area in Mumbai. They are daughters of sex workers and the girls who were trafficked. The show is scheduled to happen at N Convention on Sunday, 21st January 2018 at 6:30 pm.
Red Light Express is a gripping and hard - hitting theater performance. This play has been performed in front of over 10 Lakh audiences across UK and USA and has also been performed at the world’s largest performing art festival - Fringe Festival at Edinburgh. ArtLife Events is bringing this play to India for the first time. Many of these girls have received UN awards for their social justice work and have given 25+ TEDx talks and other speeches around the world.
ArtLife Events Founders, Tarusha Saxena and Prashaant Sharma shared their views about Red Light Express in a press conference today and said, “Bringing Red Light Express to Hyderabad was our dream project and we are elated and humbled at the same time with the support we have received in making it happen. All these girls want is acceptance by the society and as citizens of Hyderabad, we stand proud today that some of the state’s most celebrated names have come forward wholeheartedly to make this event possible. We are grateful to Mahavir Group, Kalamandir Foundation and Dodla Dairy for coming forward and extending their help. They also added that “Mumbai based NGO –Kranti has done a commendable job by helping these girls find meaning in their lives. Kranti girls are an inspiration for today’s youth and us. If they could find light out of their dark backgrounds, so can we.”
