Yes, the Filmfare Awards (South) are here! And like every year, the night will take on a celestial aura and the stars bedecked in their finest will covet the beauteous Black Lady. This is one time when the Southern film industries come together to applaud the winners. The camaraderie and the showmanship will remain unrivalled that night. The latest edition of the Filmfare Awards (South) promises to be bigger and better than ever.

The Filmfare Awards have striven to achieve a perfect balance of public opinion and critical appreciation. This year too our readers around the world have voted for their favourites across 10 categories in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam films. The exclusive list of nominees was announced at the press conference today.

Superstar and Filmfare Award winner, Venkatesh, along with Mr. Jitesh Pillai, Chief Community Officer and Editor, Filmfare and Mr. Ali Harris Shere, Director- Marketing, Britannia Industries Limited, lit the lamp at the press conference to announce the date and venue of the awards.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jitesh Pillai said, “The South Awards have grown tremendously in terms of scale and the number of movies competing for the Black Lady. It's great to see members of the Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu film industries coming together under one roof and honour the best of the best. About Filmfare Awards (South):
The first ever Filmfare Awards (South) were held at the prestigious KalaivanarArangam in Chennai and the venue was then shifted to the distinctive Music Academy. Initially, only Tamil and Telugu films were considered for the awards. Malayalam and Kannada films became part of the event in 1966 and 1969 respectively. The film fraternity and all its fans consider Filmfare Awards (South) as the ultimate recognition of excellence in cinema. The thought of winning a Black Lady is still as alluring as ever.
