FICCI Ladies Organization organizes Interactive Sessions
FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO), a national body with the prime objective of women empowerment though the promotion of entrepreneurship and managerial excellence is organizing two interactive sessions here at The Park Hotel today i.e. Tuesday, 29th October 2013. One of India's top management thinkers Dr. Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Professor - Corporate Strategy & Policy, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IiM-B) will be speaking on 'Innovation Going Beyond Jugaad'. Immediately after it will be an interactive session on 'Harnessing the Power of Play into Learning' by Madhumita Haider, Founder of MadRat Games, creators of the World's first Indian Language word game — Aksharit.
The sessions organised today are part of a series of such sessions organized exclusively for FLO members so as to enable them to get insights on different subjects from the experts in various fields, informs Ms. Jyotsna Angara, Chairperson FLO Hyderabad Chapter.
Dr. Rishikesha T. Krishnan main interest lies in strategy and innovation. Prof. Krishnan has served on a number of committees set up by the Government of India, NASSCOM and CII related to innovation in India. He writes extensively, and has more than 140 publications spanning outlets that include refereed journals, the popular press, case studies, book chapters, and books. Professor Krishnan's book From Jugaad to Systematic Innovation: The Challenge for India, published in February 2010 identified the challenges faced by India in enhancing industrial innovation and proposed an agenda to enhance innovation output. Professor Krishnan's recent book, 8 Steps to Innovation: Going from Jugaad to Excellence outlines a systematic path for organizations to build innovation capabilities. He is on the boards of four companies and is a trustee of the Foundation for Excellence India Trust.
Madhumita Haider, founder of MadRat Games, graduated in Computer Science from IIT Bombay and being an artist at heart, worked for a FX studio. However her creative energies not finding room for expression in the corporate world, she chose to work with children. She subsequently taught middle school children at an alternate education center for 4 years. She explored science through games, play and activities with the children. That's when the tremendous potential that Play had in learning became abundantly clear. With the vision to unleash this potential that Play holds to engage learners through fun, she co-founded MadRat Games. Their flagship game Aksharit is now ready in 11 major Indian Languages and has been adopted by more than 2500 schools across the country. Nokia, Intel and Google have partnered with MadRat Games and launched Aksharit on half a million devices.
FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) Hyderabad Chapter began its operations in the year 2002 and now has a membership base of about 400. FLO is a division of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), which is the apex body of Industry and Chambers of Commerce in India. FLO is one of the most prestigious pan-India business organizations with 10 chapters and nearly 3200 members across India, committed to working towards women empowerment through business women development and capacity building initiatives besides other programmes. Some of the services and activities of the FLO include: Personality Development, Awareness Programs, Training, Business Consultancy, Networking and Recognition. FLO also has Young FLO (YFLO), a forum for the career women, it is a community of career women between 20 and 39.
