Vedam-Every song plays a fundamental role

‘Vedam’ is a multi-starrer film directed by Krish with a unique concept. There are altogether five central characters in the film, each having a different story. Allu Arjun, Manoj Kumar Manchu, Anushka, Manoj Bajpai and Balayya play the five central characters. There are altogether eight songs including three bit songs. All are said to be situational songs with dramatic sequences. MM Keeravani composed the tunes, so I’m expecting a decent album.
Now Or Never Music: M.M. Keeravani Lyrics: Sirivennela Singer: Ranjith, Deepu, Geetha Madhuri, Chaitra
With many other types of progressive music in Telugu, this album opens on an amazing high rock band with the song ‘Pada pada pada’ penned by Sirivennela Seetarama Sastry. This is just a brilliant start by MM Keeravani. He makes it sound so good with perfect harmonies. Lead singer Ranjith gave a noteworthy contribution accompanied by singers like Deepu, Geeta Madhuri and Chaitra.
Egiripothe Entha Baaguntundi Music: M.M. Keeravani Lyrics: Sahithi Singer: Sunitha, M.M. Keeravani
Ahh, I love qawwali songs. After listening to heavy beat track in western style, this one quite contrast to it, is in a traditional qawwali Hyderabadi style. Sunitha’s sweet vocals accompanied by Keeravani, in addition to authentic classical instruments and beautiful clapping sound is simply good. Anushka plays the prostitute by name Saroja in ‘Vedam’. Therefore this song with aptly suitable lyrics ‘Egiripothe entha baaguntundi….’ by Sahithi has been composed in a distinctive style. I’ve been going back a number of times to listen to this song. Very enjoyable!
Rupaay Music: M.M. Keeravani Lyrics: M.M. Keeravani Singer: M.M. Keeravani
This is pretty interesting piece that tells about the value of a Rupee. Lyrically the song is catchy to pay attention too. Keeravani penned the lyrics so beautiful that it takes you on a steadfast journey. He also lent his voice for this song. The fragile orchestration is soothing to ears. Filmed on Allu Arjun, this song might appear remarkable when the visuals crop up on silver screen.
Prapancham Naaventosthunte Music: M.M. Keeravani Lyrics: E.S. Murthy Singer: Anuj Gurwara, Achu, Allu Arjun, Chaitra
‘Prapancham Naaventosthunte’ is youthful song with nice upbeat sound and vocal style. The lyrics by ES Murthy are pretty enjoyable. The band certainly shows some energy and the singers perfectly fit the music. Interestingly, Allu Arjun is one among the singers who lent his voice to this song. The track is such a breath of fresh air that makes me enjoy every time I listen to it.
Mallee Puttanee Music: M.M. Keeravani Lyrics: M.M. Keeravani Singer: M.M. Keeravani
‘Mallee Puttanee’ narrates one of the characters who repent for his mistakes in life. This four line heart touching song set to much higher music, gradually quiets down to a marvelous climax with the mood of the introduction. Besides composing the music, Keeravani provides excellent lyrics and vocals as well.
Emi Telisi Nanu Mohisthivi Music: M.M. Keeravani Lyrics: Traditional Added Lines by Sahithi Singer: Padma, Poornima, Manju, Sudha Krishnan
Sung by Padma, Poornima, Manju and Sudha Krishnan, this four line stanza ‘Emi Telisi Nanu Mohisthivi…’ crafted the scene in a traditional style. One will understand the situation only after watching the film.
Vedam Music: M.M. Keeravani Lyrics: M.M. Keeravani Singer: Karthik
This title track starts with Karthik’s whispering voice ‘Prathi nimisham prathi nimisham adugesemundhu aalochisthu’. Lyrics by Keeravani are very inspiring. It’s a short song but I found interesting quality of humbleness.
E Cheekati Cherani Music: M.M. Keeravani Lyrics: M.M. Keeravani Singer: M.M. Keeravani
The album closes with a feel good song ‘E cheekati cherani kotta nee brathukuO….O repani undhani thelusukO…Neee…..oka naati nettuni….gurthu padathavaaaaa…….gurthu padathaavaaa……’. The exotic string composition with awesome effect gave me a feel that it is a journey in itself. Perhaps, Keeravani ends the album in an amazing style.
Overall, ‘Vedam’ strikes me as an amazingly feel good album. Lyrics in every song are really interesting to note and you don’t need a skip button as every song plays a fundamental role in the film.
