Telugu Association of Greater Kansas City, USA (TAGKC) has recently celebrated Ugadi. The evening had a great gathering of about 300 people, and started with Authentic Indian Dinner. People at the entrance were offered the Ugadi Pachadi, and proceeded to Dinner. During the Dinner, the members had Panchanga Sravanam, presented by TeluguOne.com, well appreciated by everyone. The cultural programs were started with light-up by Chairman of Trust, Smt & Sri Bommakanti Saran, which then followed by Vandemataram song by Telugu Badi kids.

The Carnatic music recital by Master Sudhansu (Vocal) and Master Vikram (Mridangam) was great. A Classical Dance by Ms.Anjali Tata was spell bound performance. TAGKC President Mr.Vadlamudi Ranga welcomed the evening and described the association's motto and programs planned for the year. During this, he felicitated a great artist Mr.Gummadipudi Ravi for his contributions over years.

This then followed by a Dance Mix by kids aged 3 to 5 yrs, with two songs Yamuna Theere and a contemporary hit song Chila Chila. This was marvelous presentation by 20 kids. Then comes a different show - Bommala Angadi. This is a good knowledge show, where couples from all states told about their culture, and what they do on Ugadi day. This was all done by the kids ages 4 to 8yrs old.

A mimicry show by Srinivas Kotipalli captured the audience well, which involved the different accents of Telugu from different parts of our state.

Little girls performed a dance for Orugalluke Pilla. This was organized so well and received a great applause. Another classical Bharatanatyam item presented by Mrs.Ritu's students, was really impressive.

Then followed the kids skit - Panchatantram. This was all done by kids aged 5-8, with attractive animal costumes and taught a great moral 'Satyameva Jayate'. The song 'Gili Gili ga' mixed with a great dance composition sparkled the evening. This was again presented by the small kids.

A contemporary Adult skit Dharma Peetham, captured the audience, and explained the different colors of people we see everyday. This was written and directed by KC local talents, but very professionally presented. Big girls then presented their 'Thippalu Thappulu' with a cheerful dance, and got so much applause from the audience.

The final presentation and the highlight of the evening was Dance Dhamaka - a great mix of old melodies with beats and dance which was a great composition.

Though the show was started a bit late, audience just stayed till the end of the show, and appreciated much, which was ended vote of thanks by Mr.Sankar Guntur and the Indian national anthem 'Janaganamana'.

Overall this Ugadi Vedukalu had a good gathering, and people enjoyed the evening.
