Maniratnam’s contribution is Indian cinema is known to each and every citizen of this country. So it is not a surprise that he has been chosen for the awards ‘Jaeger-Le Coultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award’ on Monday, the September 6th, 2010, at 67th Venice Film Festival, Director and Jury member Gabriele Salvatores gave away the award to Maniratnam for his worthy contribution to the film industry. Maniratnam was accompanied by his wife Suhasini and Vikram who was main team members of ‘Raavanan’. Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, who were also part of ‘Raavan’ project, could not attend the award function.
