Rana’s English flick is based on Aamir Khan’s Raakh

Handsome hunk Rana Daggubati is going places by really making a strong and promising start to his acting career with films like ‘Leader’ in Telugu and ‘Dum Maro Dum’ in Bollywood. While he got the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South through ‘Leader’, he won Zee Cine Award for Best Male Debut through ‘Dum Maro Dum’. Yes! The actor is all set to step into Hollywood now. He announced his first English film as ‘A Momentary Lapse of Reason’ to be directed by Aditya Bhattacharya. He recently confirmed the news to the media at a swanky pub Tonic Club in Banjara Hills where Aditya Bhattacharya was also present.

Rana said, “I’m doing my 1st film in English which will be directed by Aditya Bhattacharya, grandson of Bimal Roy, one of the all time great filmmakers of Indian Cinema.”

Addressing the media director Aditya Bhattacharya said, “I’m yet to see a Rana’s film but I believe he has the admirable traits to become a global hero. 23 years ago, I believed in a youngster and made a film with him titled ‘Raakh’ even without watching any of his films. That youngster was Aamir Khan. Now, I’ve the same confidence in Rana also.”

‘A Montary Lapse of Reason’ is also based on the Aamir Khan’s 1989 ‘Raakh’, but it is now set on Los Angeles backdrop. Sunita Tati and Aditya Bhattacharya will produce this film on ‘Guru Films’ which is a Hyderabad based banner.

Rana’s latest release in Telugu was ‘Naa Ishtam’ which was released a couple of days ago. He is presently doing a Bollywood film ‘Department’ under RGV’s direction. This apart, he is also going to do a bilingual film under Selva Raghavan’s direction. In this line, he will also be exploring the Tamil film market. Wish you good luck Rana!
