Not all stars start their lives surrounded by mansions and sports cars. Here is a matinee idol who truly went from rags to riches. Yes, superstar Rajnikanth had to wait a long time to find his fortune. Before he started his acting journey, he was a bus conductor, which most of the movie buffs are aware of it.

Growing up in one of the poorest neighbourhoods in Bangalore, Rajnikanth aka Shivaji Rao Gaikwad was the son of a police constable. His early days had him following the general career path of men in his neighbourhood – doing several jobs before he turned bus conductor in Bangalore Transport Service. After trying his hand in few stage plays, the stylish actor caught the eye of K Balachander, who adviced him to learn Tamil and cast him in a small negative role in Kamal Haasan starrer ‘Apporva Ragangal’. Today, he is the superstar and one of the richest celebrities in India, known as the second highest paid actor in Asia after Jackie Chan, after his 2007 blockbuster movie ‘Shivaji’.

Now the magnificent part is that the CBSE students will learn whole inspiring life story of this 62 year old actor from their textbooks ‘Learning To Communicate’. This textbook will now include a chapter titled ‘From Bus Conductor To Superstar’ on this Super Star under the section ‘Dignity of Work’. The students will learn about his rise from a ‘normal’ person to the billionaire history.
