For 2012, Nandi Awards Minugurulu grabbed 7 Awards

A whole lot of movies are made every year. Numerically the highest number of films are produced by the Telugu Film Industry.

The national and international award winning movie Minugurulu, directed and produced by Ayodhyakumar Krishnamsetty is selected for the 2012 Nandi awards. Minugurulu has created quite a buzz during its time of the release earlier and once again it has hit the news with its recent inclusion in the Nandi Awards.

The Nandi Awards, are considered most prestigious accolade in the Telugu cinema and are awarded annually by the Andhra Pradesh State Governement.

1. Second Best Film — MInugurulu
2. Best Debutant Director - Ayodhya Kumar Krishnamsetty
3. Best Story Writer — Ayodhya Kumar Krishnamsetty
4. Best Child Actor — Deepak Saroj
5. Best Child Actress — Rushini
6. S.V.Ranga Rao Award — Ashish Vidhyardhi
7. Best Male Dubbing Artist RCM Raju

The film is primarily based on the life of 40 visually impaired children in an orphanage run by a corrupt warden, the obstacles and challenges they face there and the way they overcome the challenges thereby gaining back their rights. This is the first time in the Telugu film industry in which 40 visually impaired children acted in a movie at once. The movie has been selected officially in many national and International awards, to name a few:

It was awarded the “Best Indian Film” award in 9th Children’s India International Film Festival 2014, held at Bangalore.

The film is officially selected for screening at the 18th International Children Film Festival, Hyderabad. Minugurulu bags the credit of being the only Telugu film to be selected in the competition section for the first time in Telugu film history.

It has been selected for official screenings in Kolkata International Film Festival held in Kolkata and International Ability Film Festival held at Chennai.
Minugurulu features Ashish Vidyarthi, Raghuvir Yadav and Suhasini Manirathnam in the prominent roles. The protagonist role is played by Deepak Saroj Peddada, the lead Actress role is played by Rushinis

The movie is one among the 323 other films that are competing for the Oscars this year. After the Indians dazzled at the Oscars via the British production ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, which is now an Indian production, both made and directed by an Indian has muscled its way to the Oscar’s broad list previously.

Now ‘Minugurulu’ is one such Telugu film, following the similar footsteps in the path to glory, which has made its way into the Academy Awards and is eligible for contending in all the categories of the 87th Academy Awards including the 2014 Best Picture Category at the Oscars.
