I'm very proud to have done a film like Journey - Sharwanand
Added on December 14, 2011
With the success of two important films like ‘Gamyam’ and ‘Prasthanam’ in his film career Sharwanand has proved his worth as an actor in Telugu and also earned a place in the hearts of Tamil audience with his recently released film ‘Engayum Eppodum’. The same film was dubbed in Telugu as ‘Journey’ and is set for release on December 16th. On this occasion Sharwanand spoke to the media on Wednesday in Hyderabad and shared his views. Here are some excerpts:

He started of the interview by talking about the film 'Journey': I’m very proud to do a film like ‘Journey’ and I’m very confident that the movie will be a big hit in Telugu as well.   All artists gave excellent performances.  There is actually no story in this film. ‘Journey’ is about the life of two lovers and the wounds left in the hearts of four people due to the accident caused during their journey. Director Saravanan designed every character in a very naturally manner. This is a universal film. We are not passing any message to the audiences through this film. However after watching the film, it will provoke the audience’s thoughts.

I’ve altogether did 3 films in Tamil. I met right at the time Murugadoss and Saravanan were on search for the artists for ‘Engayum Eppodum’. Initially they have considered another actor for my role. But since he could not adjust his dates I got the opportunity to do this film. Murugadoss complimented me by saying that my performance was very natural and did not appear like I was acting in the film. It is purely based on the director’s talent to extract what he wants from artists and make the film a commercial success by crafting it accordingly.

Suresh Kondeti garu has a very good taste in films. He takes good care about the film’s publicity. No one can beat him when it comes to choosing dubbed films and he proved it becoming successful with films like ‘Premisthe’ and ‘Shopping Mall’.

So far I’ve done films catering to different genres. But ‘Journey’ is a unique film that would earn me a good image. I’m just waiting to see its commercial success. Although I’m not very particular about doing commercial films, I’m ready to do any kind of film if the concept is good. I only wish to be a part of that film which is fresh and different from the routine ones. I’m presently doing a film along with Naresh and Shriya. I’ve no language barriers. I don’t mind doing films in any language provided the scripts are interesting.  I simply don’t believe in thinking that I can earn a star image by fighting with a group of 10-15 rowdies.

All the films that I've done so far have given me complete satisfaction. If I like the story I’ll have no second thoughts about the role I’m playing. I’m basically a director’s artist. I always make sure that the role I play will connect with the audience. Till date I’ve worked only with those directors who wrote the scripts on their own. Hence I believe both – story and director.
