“Few years ago I took a film course in USA to pursue my dream of being a director. However, when I stepped into the film industry specific circumstances at that moment turned me producer. I attempted this 3D movie in genre of comedy in order to provide a new experience to the audience. Comedy film in 3D format is first of its kind movie in Indian cinema. I’m sure to set a trend with ‘Action’ in 3D in Tollywood”, says producer turned director Anil Sunkara, whose first directorial venture ‘Action’ starring Allari Naresh, Vaibhav, ‘Kick’ Shaam and Raju Sundaram is hitting global screens on 21st June. As part of his movie promotion, Anil Sunkara organised a press conference to talk about his film. Check it out below.

Tell us a bit about your 3D project ‘Action’?
‘Action’ revolves around four friends and the incidents that occur involving them. In reality, there is no story as such.  The concept of the film is one can have an agreement in business but not in friendship.  It’s a great experience to shoot comedy scenes in 3D format.  Unlike other action and horror 3D films, the audience will not get the 3D effect but at the same time will be provided by a feeling of depth for a 3D visual experience. Especially songs will make viewers experience more realistic in 3D.

Is there anyone you would like to thank for helping out with this film?
A huge thanks goes to leading actors of this film and stereographer Keith who have given immense support and cooperation.  But even more who stuck by my side and continued encouraging me with good suggestions is Srinu Vaitla.  He offered me guidance based on his experiences in movie world.  Since I’ve been travelling with Vaitla right from the beginning of my career, there is lot of his influence on this film.

How does it feel to make back-to-back films with Mahesh Babu?
I’m very happy to produce back-to-back films with Mahesh Babu.  He encouraged me a lot after learning about my 3D film.  Mahesh’s ‘1’ (Nenokkadine) is currently progressing in London.  His character is aptly suitable to the title.  The entire shooting part will be completed with 60 days of overseas schedule. Soon after that ‘Aagadu’ will go on the set.

Anything else you would like to add?
I entered the movie industry with passion on becoming a director.  I was trained in direction in USA but become producer at unexpected situation after coming here.  However, I’m able to fulfill my dream of turning director with ‘Action’ even though it’s little delayed.  At one point of time audience were thrilled to watch movies on 30 MM screen and later got used to 70 MM screen.  Hence I’m coming up with a 3D movie with the intention to provide new experience to the audience.  Gradually 3D films will increase in Tollywood as the audiences get accustomed to them.
