Allu Sirish Interview about Kotha Janta

After failing to impress the audience with his debut film 'Gauravam', Allu Sirish hopes to show his range in his latest film 'Kotha Janta', directed by the sensational filmmaker Maruthi. The actor says there are no spoofs in the upcoming film releasing tomorrow even though it has been made on the media backdrop. In his recent interview with the media, he talked all about his character in 'Kotha Janta', its challenges and about working with director Maruthi. He also dished on the kind of films he is interested to do in the near future.

How was your working experience with director Maruthi?
Maruthi is known to me even before he turned director and I became a hero. So I felt very comfortable working with him. The entire team of 'Kotha Janta' is young. So it was like working with our own friends.

Tell us about your character in the film?

I played a TV anchor who's a very selfish guy. The heroine who works with him is also equally selfish thinking only about her career. So one can imagine how the consequences would be when two selfish people meet and fall in love, whether it's true love or they are pretending. The film also passes on the massage that two people working in the same office should never fall in love.

'Kotha Janta' appears to be on media backdrop. Are there any satires on the media?

There are no spoofs in this film. We did this film on media background just to give a fresh feel to the audience and not to play spoofs on TV anchors. The same story could have been done on IT background too. The audience will certainly have fun watching the film.

What inspired you to choose the song 'Atu Amalapuram...' and remix it?
Actually that was Maruthi's idea. A key incident occurs soon after this song in the film. So that song was very essential for the story. A girl named Madhurima comes from Amalapuram and I give her the opportunity to become an anchor. So the song involves both of us.

How is comedy in 'Kotha Janta' going to keep the audience engaged?
Doing comedy is no big deal if one has that quality in him. The comedy in this film comes from the attitude of hero. Since it's limited to the character's attitude, it appears natural and sure to attract the audience.

It was told in the audio function that Maruthi elevates the heroine in his films. Is it going to be the same in 'Kotha Janta'?
The story of 'Kotha Janta' revolves around a selfish guy. So there would be more confusion on my character. However, Maruthi balanced both the leading characters equally.

How true was it that the film was re-shot?

No, only few scenes which did not satisfy us were reshot. The decision was taken by all of us together.

Did your father involve in this matter?

My dad never bothered to interfere in any matter related to this film. He just came once to the sets while shooting the song 'Atu Amalapuram.....'.

How did he react after watching the film?
Dad simply said that my performance in this film is better than my first film.

How did Chiranjeevi garu react on this film?
Chiranjeevi garu watched Maruthi's earlier films. So he said that it's the right choice to work with a director who knows the pulse of the mass audience.

Did Bunny watched the film?

Yeah, he did watched and enjoyed thoroughly as a viewer. He even gave me the feedback about the scenes he liked and said that the film would be the best summer entertainer.

When are you planning to do a film with Bunny?

Nothing is in my hands. If we come across a good story we will certainly do.

Have you ever repented for failing to impress the audience with your debut movie 'Gauravam'?

No! Never! Why, because the subject is very dry without no comedy and just two songs. The film missed the nativity as the subject became heavy. Even the audience's reaction was not in Cavour when they watched the trailers and posters. But I personally felt happy and proud for being part of that film. Another thing was that when I met IAS officers, they appreciated my performance in the role of a professor. Their views were positive even though the film was not commercially successful. It was a detailed movie which was supposed to be watched as a film.

How did you choose to do 'Gouravam'?

Since the time I watched his 'Mozhi', I decided to work with him anytime I get the opportunity to do a strong and sensible film. That's how I did 'Gouravam'. Although 'Kotha Janta' will entertain the audience in a full-fledged manner, the last 15 minutes will have no commercial elements.

Are there any directors you would like to work with in the near future?
My aim is to work with new directors because they have creative thoughts and their ides are Lso new. This apart, I wanted to work with new actors and technicians. In 'Kotha Janta' also I worked with a new technicians like Praveen, Giri, Sreenu, etc.

What would you say your goal as an upcoming actor?
I want to do films that has strong content in it. I'll experiment with films only after getting stabilized in the industry. I'm not repenting for the mistake done by me in the past because I got the opportunity to learn from it.

Can you give us an update on the status of your upcoming films?
I'm longing to do atleast four to five films that are youth oriented because once we cross that age we cannot do films on college backdrop.
