'Jailer' and 'Pathaan' have a similarity

'Jailer' is doing roaring business in Telugu. It may be noted that Sun Pictures didn't hold any promotional events for the Telugu version in Hyderabad. Superstar Rajinikanth, who happened to visit Hyderabad to promote films like 'Kaala', didn't do so for 'Jailer' for whatever reason.

The lack of promotions hasn't been a handicap. The Nelson Dhilipkumar-directed black action comedy is doing extremely well in Telugu, exceeding the collections of 'Bholaa Shankar' on the first weekend. Estimates say that 'Jailer' will collect at least Rs 10 Cr more than Chiranjeevi's movie by the end of its lifetime in the Telugu States.

These days, some films are doing very well despite weak or zero promotions. Shah Rukh Khan didn't promote 'Pathaan' before its release. There were no interviews, no appearances on TV shows, etc. The film took phenomenal openings and continued to do so. A post-release presser was held and that's all there was to it. The makers of 'Jailer' might visit Hyderabad to thank the Telugu audience.

'Adipurush' had a grand event in Tirupathi. After that, Prabhas flew to the US and never returned to India for 50 days. Despite zero promotions, the film registered fabulous openings. It is another matter that, unlike 'Jailer' and 'Pathaan', the film was a box-office disaster since the collections slackened after the first weekend.
