'Devara' Glimpse: A semi-wow experience...

"The sea is full of blood.. it’s his Red Sea! All hail! All hail the tiger! (sic)," the makers of 'Devara' wrote, unveiling the teaser for their biggest-ever pan-Indian movie. Jr NTR and Koratala Siva outpace each other in trying to raise the stakes this season. The action thriller-drama will be out in theatres on April 5.

The film is set in a fictional coastal land. A bloody sea known as the Red Sea, which has been witness to massacres, forms the backdrop of Devara's crusade against the enemies of the land. We assume these enemies are traitorous, treacherous, blood-thirsty, feral, beastly men who are armed with deadly weapons and consumed with avarice.

Devara, their nemesis, is an embodiment of endurance and stamina. The action choreography has a gladiatorial ring to it. Sabu Cyril's production design is somewhat derivative. The visual palette is oddly reminiscent of the recent 'Kanguva' glimpse.

Anirudh's mainstay is the background score. What we get to hear in the teaser is a mini song and song composition is not his forte, willy-nilly.

On balance, the teaser is satisfying when you think of Tarak and his director. Koratala Siva is working with a vengeance after scoring a disaster with 'Acharya'. This April 5, we hope Tollywood will be talked about across the country.
