Kalamandir Kalyan on Handloom Board of India

Union Ministry of Textiles appointed Sai Silks (Kalamandir), a leading textile store, director Annam Kalyan Srinivas as non-official member of Handloom Board of India. The official letter confirming the nomination was sent to Srinivas by Government of India’s development commissioner for handlooms, recently.The Union Textile Ministry made this nomination considering the services rendered by Kalyan Srinivas towards the textile industry in Andhra Pradesh and his association with various forums. It also appointed nine more to the board.

Srinivas, born in 1974 in Vijayawada, completed his graduation in commerce and law and did post graduate diploma in business administration. Apart from being the director of Sai Silks (Kalamandir) Limited, he is a member of Film Censor Board from 2009.The newly nominated Indian Handloom Board member is engaged actively in social service. Being the director of social responsibility division of Sai Silks, Srinivas stood in the forefront to protect the affected. Kalamandir Foundation has been in the front to support victims of natural calamities. The foundation has undertaken around 50 activities in the past one year for social cause.

Commenting on the nomination, Srinivas said that it would boost his morale and he would go a long way in the state’s handloom sector. He added that he would strive for the wellbeing of the handloom sector in the State.As member of India Handloom Board he is required to advise the government in formulating programmes for the development of the handloom sector in the country. The Board’s advises would make the sector an effective instrument in reducing unemployment.
