Kajal Aggarwal’s film Brahmotsavam is gearing up for a grand release on the 20th of May. The trailer of the film has been well received and everyone is talking about it. In a small chit chat Kajal talks about herself, Brahmotsavam and her advice to aspiring actors...

Tell us about your childhood?
I was a brat! I have troubled my parents a lot as a kid and I hope my kids don't do that to me. Well ours is a big family. Uncles, aunts, cousins. We would celebrate everything together. Even something as small as winning awards in school. This is similar to what happens in Brahmotsavam. My family and the atmosphere has been the same.

How was it working with Mahesh Babu after four years?
It was a great experience. Mahesh hasn’t changed a bit. He is very professional and a lot of fun to work with. Since I already know him and have built a rapport with him it was very easy to work with Mahesh. He was really good to begin with and with every film he is improving so much. He is mastering his craft.

Let’s talk about your role in Brahmotsavam?
I play a girl called Kaasi. Independent, strong headed, individualistic and ambitious explains Kaasi. I could relate a lot to this role because I am like that.

What’s your most emotional scene in Brahmotsavam?
I have this scene with Mahesh which is a crucial scene for my character. It’s a bit of dilemma where she really wants something but her ambitions and priorities are different. She is caught in a swirl of emotions and does not know what to choose. She decides what she wants. This scene was a difficult one.

Are you happy the way Srikanth Addala has portrayed you?
Yes! I had a lovely time working with him. He is a simple person and at the same time he is very clear. A very down to earth person, it was fantastic knowing him. He is happy with a few things and he just requires them. He has an innocence and this translates onto his films. This film has emotions and he has projected such raw realities in such a beautiful manner. Initially I was hesitant about my character as I have never done anything so strong. But Srikanth gaaru has superseded my expectations.

Which actor/ actress inspires you?
French actress Audrey Tautou. I love her. She is so natural. I also like Nicole Kidman. She has done some great work. Then there is Angelina Jolie. I like so many of them.

What advice would you give to young and aspiring actress?
Believe in your dream. Follow your convictions, follow your heart. Work extremely hard as there is no substitute to hard work. Please finish your education and then think of venturing into any industry.
