Actress Malvika Nair about Sharwanand's Biker

Malvika Nair has charmed audiences with her nuanced performances in films like Yevade Subramanyam, Kalyana Vaibhogame, Mahanati, and Anni Manchi Sakunamule. She is now returning to the big screen with the sports drama Biker, starring alongside Sharwanand. Ahead of the movie's theatrical release, here is what she said.

I heard the story in April 2024 and liked it immediately. Director Abhilash Reddy has written a character with very fresh content. Biker is the first motocross film in India. I am very excited about this movie because it is a high-adrenaline and high-octane film. The experience will be thrilling and inspiring for everyone. It emotionally connects with both youth and family audiences.

I should not reveal too much about my character yet. My role acts like a bridge for the story. In a sportsman’s life, the role of family is very crucial. In this film, the wife and husband take every decision together. The story unfolds across three timelines and my character evolves along with them. I have played a strong, impactful role with good scope for performance.

In real life, Sharwanand and I are both introverts. We do not talk much. However, we developed great chemistry as per our characters in the film. Sharwa is very spontaneous as an actor. We interacted even more during the promotions. Acting with Rajasekhar garu was also a great experience. Even though he is a senior, he is very friendly with everyone on set. He listens if we say something and is a very kind person.

Abhilash is a director with great clarity. He knows exactly what the story and characters need. He also completes the shoot on time as planned. He is a good leader. Biker will be very different from his previous films. Shooting a motocross sport is very difficult. Every character in this film has a good arc. The father-son emotion stands out in particular.

The music in this film is very special. Ghibran has done an amazing job with the background score. He has composed memorable soundtracks for each character. From a technical standpoint, the music will definitely give a great high. There is a song called Pretty Baby in the film. Shekhar Master has choreographed it very beautifully. The audience will really enjoy it.

I always want to play a new character each time. I look for roles with different layers. If such roles come, I will definitely do them. Before doing any character, I keep the audience in mind. I also check whether the character connects with me personally. If it feels truly new, I go ahead with it. I am very happy with my journey and I hope to do even better roles.

More than acting workshops, what I rely on to hone my talent are interactions and developing empathy. I try to understand diverse life experiences. I may not be an extrovert, but I love talking with strangers and knowing about them.
