"Since Tatvam is a very different title, at first, we were skeptical about whether it would be liked by the audience. The encouraging response removed our fears," says budding actress Dashvika, who debuts with the October 2nd release, Tatvam. The murder mystery thriller, helmed by Arjun Kola, is bankrolled by Trayathi Ishani Creations and SK Productions (producers Vamsi Seemakurthi and Swetha Pashupulate have ensured apt production values). The police procedural-type narrative, the involvement of a psychopathic character, and a haunting score seem to be the film's forte.
In this interview, the Telugu-speaking actress talks about what to expect from the movie, besides throwing light on her character.
I hail from Vizag. Tatvam is my debut feature film as a heroine, landing the role after clearing auditions. Earlier, I featured in a commercial alongside Vijay Deverakonda, and I am thrilled to start my feature film journey. Acting has been a lifelong dream of mine, going all the way back to elementary school when I first told my teacher about my goal. While my interest in modeling and cinema was always strong, I focused on completing my education at my parents' request. With their complete blessing now and formal training under Mahathi Bikshu behind me, I am now ready for a take-off. I was initially anxious, but everything turned out very smoothly. Like any field, it’s about how you navigate it, and the industry is nowhere near as intimidating as its external perception.
Getting a performance-oriented role in my very first film is a huge opportunity. The narrative of Tatvam hooked me right away, particularly the emotional weight of my character and its realistic rural backdrop.
At its core, my character is a positive, supportive protagonist who stands by the hero during his investigation. However, she has nuanced grey shades that add layers to her personality without making her any less endearing. I would prefer to keep the remaining details a surprise for the screen!
Tatvam is an engaging murder mystery thriller set in a rural backdrop that keeps you hooked from start to finish. On a personal level, my character’s quiet, shy demeanor mirrored my own. That way, it was very intuitive for me to step into her shoes.
While raw, compelling stories like this are popular in Malayalam cinema, I am glad a similar concept is being made in Telugu. Chetan Bharadwaj's music and the background score add to the texture of the film.
Dinesh Tej was a fantastic co-star and supported me tremendously during the action sequences. His role in the film is layered as well. Working with director Arjun Kola was a wonderful experience; he is calm, composed, and operates with absolute clarity. It was inspiring to learn how he took a three-month leave from his corporate job to bring this project to life.
I am eager to take on versatile roles, particularly in love stories. Looking ahead, my debut Tamil project goes on floors this November, and I am actively discussing a few exciting Telugu scripts.
