After an endearing performance in 'Khaidi', which turned out to be a good hit, Karthi has now pinned hopes on 'Donga', which also stars his sister-in-law Jyothika in an important role. Directed by Jeethu Joseph of 'Drishyam' fame, this movie has music by Govind Vasantha of '96' fame. This movie, presented by Ravuri V Srinivas under Harshitha movies banner in Telugu, will release on 20th December.
Director Jeethu Joseph said, "After the success of 'Drishyam' Telugu version, I wished to do a Telugu movie and now, I'm very happy that it happened with 'Donga'. It's a film very close to my heart. Karthi's support throughout the making is incredible. Jyothika, Sathyaraj, Prasanna, Nikhil Vimal and everyone who worked for the movie did a great job. It's a clean family entertainer, which is a blend of comedy, action and emotions. The film has come out really well and I can assure you that it's going to be loved by everyone".
Sathyaraj said, "The storyline of 'Donga' is quite different and I played an emotional role with an unique touch. My role will generate curiosity. I'm happy to have worked with Karthi, Jyothika, Nikhila and others. I'm sure 'Donga' will be bigger hit than 'Drushyam'".
Dialogue writer Hanuman chowdary said, "'Donga' is a film backed by strong performances and many talented people. 'Drishyam' has garnered fans throughout the country to Jeethu Joseph and he has done a great job. 'Sowcar' Janaki competed with Karthi with her performance and expressions though she has only a single dialogue. Sathyaraj's performance will be talked about. Karthi will steal everyone's heart with 'Donga'. Jyothika also did a great job".
Director Siva Nageswara Rao said, " Jeethu Joseph is a brilliant director. Karthi's performance in 'Oopiri' was brilliant. He is a fantastic actor, who has won three filmfare awards. I wish 'Donga' becomes a bigger hit than 'Khaidi'".
Karthi said, "Both 'Khaidi' and 'Donga' are titles of Chiranjeevi garu's blockbuster films. But we've used those titles only because they are apt for our scripts. The script of 'Donga' had thrilled me. I was impressed by the emotional bond between brother and sister. Sathyaraj garu played my father. Those three characters are like three pillars for the film. After completing the dubbing, Sathyaraj garu said it is like 'Drishyam 2'. It's a beautiful family entertainer and every character is crucial. Govind Vasantha's background score and music are terrific. People loved my Seenu role in 'Oopiri'. So much so, whenever I come across people bound to wheelchairs at airports, they ask me for a selfie. 'Donga' is like a fusion of 'Naa Peru Surya' and 'Oopiri'. It has good emotions. It's a holiday film you will enjoy watching in theaters during Christmas holidays and New Year".
