The music CDs of Shankar’s ‘Snehitudu’ is out in the market. The grand audio release function was held at Shilpa Kala Vedika on January 19th. Ran Charan Tej graced the audio function and released the audio CDs while the theatrical trailer was launched by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the producer of the blockbuster film ‘3 Idiots’. As you all know, ‘Snehitudu’ is the Telugu dubbed version of the Tamil film ‘Nanban’ which is again the remake of ‘3 Idiots’. Musical scores are rendered by Harris Jayraj in Tamil and Telugu. Gemini Film Circuit has produced this Shankar’s film.

In the audio function Shankar said, “Snehitudu is my first remake. The reason for doing this remake was when I was shooting for some action scenes in ‘Robo’ near Pune, I watched ‘3 Idiots’ in Lonawala along with my unit members as the day’s shooting got cancelled. Even while watching the film in the theater, I was fully stressed and was only thinking about my next day’s shooting. However when I observed the audience who were spilling laughs, clapping and enjoying the film, my focus also went on the film and I started to concentrate on the film putting aside my tensions. By the time the film got over my entire stress was relieved. That was the time I decided to give our audience one such new experience by remaking this stress free film. ‘Snehitudu’ has a good story and good screenplay. The Hindi version had only two songs, therefore we added one more song in the second half as per the situation which is a belly dance. Harris Jayraj worked really hard and came out with fresh tunes."

Speaking further Shankar appreciated every artist and technician who worked for the film. He compared Vijay with Rajnikanth in maintaining punctuality. He related Jeeva wih a coporate employee for his relaxed attitude. He told that Sriram’s performance in one of the scenes made him drop down the tears. Regarding Ileana’s performance he said, “I read the review about ‘Nanban’ in Times of India in which it was written that Ileana performance was better than Kareena in the drinking scene.” He thanked Sunil for dubbing his voice for Satyam despite being such a busy actor. When he mentioned dialogue writer Abburi Ravi’s name he said ‘Bommarillu’ was his favourie film. He was thankful to Seetarama Sastry who worked with him for the first time. He praised Gemini Film Circuit for choosing the actors after buying the remake rights. According to him the credit for the success of ‘Snehitudu’ and ‘Nanban’ goes to the makers of ‘3 Idiots’, director Raju Hirwani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Lastly he requested the audience to forget about his past films and watch ‘Snehitudu’ with zero expectations as the film doesn’t have action part or graphics like in ‘Robo’.

“I love Telugu films a lot. Now I’m coming up with ‘Snehitudu’ in front of you (Telugu audience). I hope to receive good support from you,” said Vijay.

Ram Charaj Teja said, “My dad always had his own doubts on my dancing skills. So in order to clear his doubt one fine day I danced in front of him. That song is nothing but ‘Chiku Buku Chuku Buku Raile…..’ which is from Shankar’s film. I want to reveal a secret. That is I was the first one to watch the film ‘3 Idiots’. Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Raju Hirwani invited me to Mumbai and previewed a special show for me and asked me to do in Telugu. But at that time I felt that such roles can be done only a hero like Aamir Khan’s range and hence I opted out. But had I known that Shankar is going to direct that film I would have definitely done it. Now I feel I missed that opportunity which Vijay grabbed it.”

Harris Jayaraj said, “Scoring music for such stories is not an easy task. We tried something new in this film.”

Other prominent guests in the function were ‘3 Idiots’ producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Raj ‘3 Idiots’ director Raju Hirwani, Bollywood hero Sharman Joshi, Satya Raj, SJ Surya, Ileana, Gemini Kiran, Rasool Pookutty, Dil Raju, Sriram, Ramajogayya Sastry, Satyam, etc.
