Balakrishna, Nayantara and Akkineni Nageswara Rao starrer ‘Sri Ramarajyam’ was made on Sri Saibaba Movies banner with K Baapu as director. Yalamanchili Saibabu produced this film, released it and successfully screened it for 100 days. On this eve he was felicitated with the ‘Pendyala-Vamsi Uttama Sangeeta Rasabharita Chitra Puraskaram-2011’ marking the 95th birthday of ace music director Pendyala Nageswara Rao.

The felicitation programme was held at Andhra Pradesh Vamsi Films Society in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Akkineni Nageswara Rao and C Narayana Reddy honoured him with the shawl, garland and the award.

Other guests in the function were IAS officer Dr K V Rama Chari, Jonnavittula, R V Ramanamurthy, Raja, Vamsi Ramaraju, Dharma Rao, etc. The programme started off with the reciting of songs from ‘Sri Ramarajyam’ and several other popular songs from old classic films. Mitra, Chandrateja, Geetanjali and Haripriya were the singers.

Later addressing the gathering Akkineni Nageswara Rao said, “Saibabu garu produced this film with courage and complete devotion believing that he is making it with the blessings of Lord Rama. I played the role of Valmiki in this film which is very prominent.”

C Narayana Reddy commented, “It was Saloori Rajeswara Rao and Pendyala Nageswara Rao who used to take care of the music department equally. While Pendyala used to provide the tune, Saloori used to write lyrics as per the tune.”

Producer Yalamanchili Saibabu said, “I’m very happy to receive the ‘Pendyala-Vamsi’ award. I thank Vamsi Ramaraju on this occasion. I produced this film on Sri Sitarama’s command, Shirdi Sainath’s consent and my parents’ blessings. Similarly this movie wouldn’t have happened without Layaraja’s music and Mullapudi Venkata Ramana initiative of this script, even though he is no more with us. NTR is the only one who is known for the character Sri Rama. In this line we approached his son Balakrishna considering him to be the apt person. Later we approached Akkineni Nageswara Rao garu for Valmiki and Nayantara for Sita after watching her performance in ‘Simha’. I take this opportunity to thank all the artists and technicians who worked for ‘Sri Ramarajyam’. I can never forget the support and cooperation of the entire team who constructed sets in Ramoji Film City. We are now planning to dub the film in Hindi. The dubbing will start from 20th onwards after which we are planning to dub in Malayalam and English as well in order to exhibit our Indian culture in other parts of the world. My next film will start on May 31st. This movie will be a family entertainer as per today’s generation. We will reveal the details of this film on April 18th.”
