The latest devotional film ‘Shirdi Sai’ in the combination of Akkineni Nagarjuna and K Raghavendra Rao is currently progressing at a brisk pace. Nagarjuna is playing the title role in this film while Srikanth, Sai Kumar and Srihari are playing the supporting characters. The shooting has come to the final stage. The audio release is planned for July 30th. A press meet was held at Hyderabad to brief the film’s details. Nagarjuna, K Raghavendra Rao, cinematography S Gopal Reddy, music director MM Keeravani, Parachuri Brothers and executive producer K Vikram Kumar participated.

Speaking about the film and his character Nagarjuna said, “I only heard about Sai Baba and used to accept Prashad from others, but been to Shirdi till I received Sai Baba photos and idols 2 months before the film were launched. However, suddently I felt like visiting that place and went without informing to anyone. As soon as I returned back Raghavendra Rao garu narrated this story to me and that’s how the film started. I used to have Sai Baba’s darshan in some form as long as shooting took place. Hence all the time I would say “Samasta Sadguru Sainath Maharaj Ki Jai”. I played the devotee characters in ‘Annamayya’ and ‘Sree Ramadasu’. For the first time I’m playing the God’s role. So after I heard the song ‘Om Sai Sri Sai’ which was played on the sets, I completely got involved with that character. The thought of my guru Raghavendra Rao made me understand how to perform the character. This experience is different and spiritual. I believe that I did some good things in my previous birth, hence I got this wonderful opportunity to play the role of Shirdi Sai Baba.”

MM Keeravani, who is scoring music for the film said, “There are altogether 13 songs, one bhajan and two prayer songs.” About Nagarjuna he said, “I’ve a very good relationship with Nagarjuna. I always wish him with one hand, but when I saw him in Sai Baba getup I joined both my hands together. I developed a feel of seeing Baba right in front of me.”
