Anjali Devi Condolence Meet

Final rituals for the senior actress Anjali Devi was held on Thursday afternoon in Chennai. Soon after that a condolence meet was held on the evening at Film Chamber office in Hyderabad. Krishna, Januma, Geetanjali, Anuradha Devi, Kaikala Satyanarayana, D Ramanaidu, V B Rajendra Prasad, Murali Mohan, Tammareddy Bharadwaja, Balayya, Kodali Venkateswara Rao and K C Sekhar Babu participated. Jamuna and Anuradha Devi lite the lamp followed by 2 minute mourning. Later everyone recollected Anjali Devi's services to the industry.

Murali Mohan said, “Anjali Devi started her career as a classical dancer in the stage shows. She did several fims as heroine. Overall she acted in over 500 films in all languages. She gave the identity to the character Sita Devi. Although she did not receive any government recognition, Anjali Devi won several other awards like Raghupati Venkayya award in 2005, Ramineni Puraskaram in 2008 and then the Akkineni National Award.”

Krishna said, “We have lost a great actress. Anjali Devi introduced Rekha on the silver screen. And it’s known to all how Rekha reached a position. I pray for her soul to rest in peace and convey my heart felt condolences to her family members.”

D Rama Naidu said, “Anjali Devi acted in more than six films on our banner like ‘Srikrishna Tulabaram’, ‘Soggadu’, ‘Chakravakkam’ and several others movies. All those films have earned her and our banner a very good name. m She has done justice to each and every role that she did. Although she produced few successful films as producer, she also faced heavy losses due to some failures. But she never gave up the spirit and bounced back with a hit film ‘Sathi Savitri’.”

Kaikala Satyanarayana said, “This is a sad news to the acting field. There is no character that she has not done. No one would have done so many characters which was done by her. Her death is a heavy loss to the industry.”

Tammareddy Bharadwaja said, “It’s not a joke to act in 500 films. She offered her services not only to Telugu industry but also to other industries. I pray for her soul to rest in peace and convey my deep condolences to her family members.”
