Kalyan Ram - Interview

Kalyan Ram’s ‘MLA’ is gearing up for a grand release on March 23. The actor talks about his film, plans and much more…..

Why ‘'Manchi Lakshanalunna Abbayi’?
The film is about a character who is not so perfect. He is filled with flaws. The leading character commits a blunder and how he realises this and corrects his mistake is what MLA is all about.

Is it a political film?
No. There is nothing political in this film. You already know the title. My director was clear about this. There will be no political tinge in this film. It’s a commercial film totally. Trust me this film is not my first step into politics.

Compare MLA and Pataas?
This one is an out and out entertainer. It runs for 126 minutes and has a message in it. My film ISM had a preachy element. MLA is not like that. People will surely enjoy this one.

Tell us about Kajal Agarwal? What is her role all about?
Kajal was the perfect choice for this film. It was the production house’s decision to cast her. She has done her role convincingly and has delivered the dialogues beautifully. She has an important part to play in the second half.

You have been a producer and an actor. Have had flops and hits. What is your take?
There have been mistakes. I take it in my stride and move on. I don’t break my head over flops. I listen to the story first. Then I decide whether I have to act or produce the film.

Tell us about Naa Nuvve?
Honestly I was shocked. It’s a romantic drama. I have no idea why I was approached for this film. I discussed this with Mahesh Koneru. He told me that he and PC Sriram know what they were doing.
