Its was her glamorous act in Krishna Vamsi’s Chandamama, rather than the impressive début as the village belle in director Teja’s rustic love story Lakshmi Kalyanam, that caught the audiences’ eye. Presently on cloud nine after the success of her recent release, the Sumanth costarring Pourudu, the young Mumbai lass, Kajal Agarwal, has a lot to look forward to in the coming years.

Q: How are you feeling post Pourudu?
A: I am really happy that the film is doing so well. More so because the character in this film is very close to me. Unlike my earlier two films where I played the role of a village girl, In Pourudu,  I portrayed the role of a modern, educated and a very lively girl. There is a little bit of the real me in the role of Samyuktha that I played in this film. I did not even have a problem having to do the Salsa dance. I am familiar with some western classical dance forms like Jive, so that made it easier for me to do the Salsa.

Q: How is Sumanth as a co star?
A: He is a thorough professional and very talented. He is a very nice guy. I am lucky to have got an opportunity to work with a production house like Annapurna Studios.

Q: How did your film career begin?
A: I was into theater and was part of many stage plays during college. But I never actually thought of taking up a career in acting even though I was into modeling at that time. It was fate that brought me to the film industry. I guess this is natural step after doing theater and stage plays.

Q: What are the kinds of roles that you would prefer to do?
A: Personally, I would like to do the kind of roles that would give me creative satisfaction. I am too novice as an actress to set myself in only one kind of roles.

Q: What about a glamorous image?
A: I don’t mind being glamorous. There is a difference between glamour and vulgarity. I know my limits and am not comfortable wearing skimpy clothes. I will not wear any thing that I am not comfortable in.

Q: Are you facing any problems with the language?
A: Being an actress language should not be a barrier to the performance. I am learning Telugu right now. Not perfect at it but can understand.

Q: What are you currently working on?
A: My film with Nitin Aatadista has been completed. Other than that I have this Tamil-Telugu bilingual movie titled Seven.

Q: Your favorite actors?
A: My all time favorite actress is Sri Devi. She is just the best. I also like Sushmita Sen. I love Chiranjeevi and Mahesh Babu in Telugu and Aamir Khan from Bollywood.
