Car Free Thursday One Year Celebrations at Ascendas IT Park, Hyderabad

One year on and awareness for "Car Free Thursday" is still going strong

Document on way forward on the initiative was unveiled

Speakers who spoke on the eve of first anniversary of the initiative emphasized on use of Public Transportation, MMTS, Carpooling, Seat Sharing, Cycle and Walk to Work etc

The 'Car-Free-Thursday' initiative launched in Hyderabad by IT Community to encourage IT/ITeS sector employees to use public transport, carpools, cycles and walk to work is one year now and is still strong on awareness. Celebrates the completion of one year and chalks out future course of action.

To mark the occasion and to celebrate the same, a function was called for which was graced by Shri Bonthu Rammohan , Mayor of Hyderabad; Shri Krishna Prasad, IPS, Additional Director General of Police; Mr. Ranga Pothula, President HYSEA; Mr. Ramesh Loganathan, MD, Progressive Software and Immediate Past President of HYSEA and Mr. PrashanthBachu , Urban Transport Expert, WRI India and others.
A document on Way forward on the Initiative was unveiled on the occasion.

Children from Jain Heritage School read out messages collected as part of "One Lakh Hands". The services of IT Parks, Volunteers who played a key role were recognized and felicitated.

Greeting Cards produced as part of One Lakh Hands campaign were distributed to the vehicle owners to sensitise them about Car Free Days.

Launched on August 6 last year, the initiative was spearheaded by HYSEA, TSRTC, & TSIIC in association with Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), CyKul, RidelT, WRIIndia(previously EMBARQ), IdentCity, ACT Carpool, Commut, Ascendas, Zify, ITFAN & H20 Cab, Extent IT solutions, Sride, Polaris, Raasta Studios and other IT companies.

Though there is a long way to go, but, it had left initial impression, strong felt need and made many heads turn and take up the initiative seriously.
