Hyderabad November 17th 2017: Hyderabad Bangalee Samity, the oldest Bengali socio-cultural, voluntary, philanthropic society engaged in promoting goodwill and fellow-feeling among the Bengalis residing in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, is proud to host the Telangana Bengali Film Festival, Aayna 2017 in association with the Telangana tourism. Sri SK Joshi, Special Secretary, Smt. Dr Christina Z.Chongthu, MD, Department of Tourism, and Mr. Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary, IT inaugurated the 3 days festival today at Prasad preview theatre.

Spanning three days, the Festival consists of eight films in two sections: popular films with four well-acclaimed movies of which two are soon to be released and Retrospective Prosenjit: 'A look- back through the years' with four films of the superstar spanning different genres of cinema.

In today's world, watching a film in the comfort of one's home has become a part of people's everyday life and the audience is losing the initiative of going to a theatre and watching a blockbuster. But we need more technology-neutral forms and what better way than screening films in a festival for proactive views, discussions and an amalgamation of ideas.

Since healthy criticism is necessary to develop film as an art form and understand the role it plays in society, we welcome the media to have a face-to-face with actors, directors, music directors and film producers during the film festival for a lively tete-a-tete on all forms of the art.
