5th, September, 2019, Hyderabad: Forum Hyderabad is back with yet another edition of "Forum Purple Run" this year. The run which is a CSR initiative of Forum aims to create awareness about Alzheimer’s. The run will be flagged off from Forum Mall Kukatpally, Hyderabad on 15th Sept 2019 at 5.00 AM and 2000 runners will participate this year in 5 KM and 10 KM categories.
Speaking on the Occasion Mr. Tanveer Shaikh, Cluster Head Forum Malls said "Alzheimer's disease is the fifth leading cause of death among people above the age group of 55 Years & Forum strives to create awareness by organizing Purple Run every year as running is the preventive medicine to fight Alzheimer's".
Forum Purple Run organizes this every year across 8 malls & 6 cities simultaneously and attract people of all age groups. Last year's run was witnessed by 1600 runners in Hyderabad and the count for this year will cross 2000. Purple run has great response from Hyderabad as these runs helps people to start an active lifestyle and to stay fit.
Forum Hyderabad will be donating the proceeds from the run to Alzheimer's & Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) this year. ARDSI is a registered national, non-profit voluntary organization engaged in the care, support, training and research of dementia since its inception in 1992. ARDSI has been in the forefront to disseminate knowledge about dementia to the public through various forums and is actively involved in developing services like respite care, day care, home care, setting up memory clinic, conducting training programmers for the family members, doctors, nurses and social workers and promote research.
The Bib distribution will happen in the premises of Forum Mall from 13th to 14th Sept. On the spot registrations will also be accepted on all three days. All runners registered for this year will receive a goody bag containing Discount Vouchers, Run T-shirt, Bib Numbers, Timing Chips, Complimentary Breakfast Coupon and Itinerary sheet with Rules and Regulations during the bid distribution. Kids & Senior Citizens can register for free and can run under noncompetitive categories.
About Alzheimer's- It’s a disease that affects different parts of the brain but severely effects the areas of the brain that control memory, language, and thinking skills. Most People assume that Alzheimer is a normal part of aging which is false. The progressive disease course is divided into four stages & worsens over time having no current cure for now , but treatments for symptoms are available temporarily treating those with early signs of detection thereby improving the quality of life for those affected with Alzheimer's and their caregivers.
