The Hyderabad 10K Run Foundation is proud to felicitate Ms Manasi Joshi, Indian Para-Badminton athlete who is currently World No. 2 in SL3 Singles category.
Manasi Joshi who has done India proud by winning the world title exemplifies winning spirit and true sportsmanship. Despite losing her leg in an accident, Manasi overcame the life-changing setback and took up badminton. Her inspiring story of courage is being recognised and rewarded by the Hyderabad 10K Run Foundation today.
The Foundation which was established in the year 2003 to promote health, fitness and sports, has rewarded stalwart sportspersons in the past. In 2006, Olympians Dharmalingam Kannan, Mohd Yousuf Khan (both football), Chinta Pratap Kumar (Asian medallist - Athletics), K. Satyanarayana (Hyderabad’s first hockey international) and L.A. Iqbal (Aijuna Awardee- ball badminton), were felicated and given the recognition that they deserved. In 2007, the Foundation recognised the contributions of Dennis Swamy (nine-time national boxing champion in fly and lightweight categories), Doppula Pandari (champion footballer), Mohd Zulfakaruddin (ace footballer), Neelamshetty Apanna (coach who has produced several greats) and veteran sports journalist T Narayan Pillay. In 2014 we recognized the potential of Kidambi Srikanth and conferred a cash award. The Foundation has also supported school inter district athletic competitions through the Telangana Athletics Association.
The Hyderabad 10K Foundation pioneered India’s first run the ‘Hyderabad 10K Run’ with an inspiring slogan of ‘Every step counts’, to encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Since then the Foundation has held the run with great success, annually. The Foundation also recognises the role of sport institutes and has supported the Yacht Club of Hyderabad and Lake View Tennis Academy in recognition of their significant contribution to yachting and tennis respectively.
