An event to promote the message of the Bhagavad Gita was held at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally, Hyderabad, under the aegis of the Bhagavad Gita Foundation on Tuesday. Retired police officer and politician VV Lakshminarayana, who is popularly known as JD Lakshmi Narayana, attended the event and spoke about the importance of abiding by a Dharmic way of life.
Speaking on the occasion, the guest said, "In modern society, we come across news about criminal incidents and atrocities on a regular basis. This is a sign of the erosion of Dharma. The Bharatiya way of life is about sticking to spirituality, tolerance, and a peaceful way of life. When you abandon those ideals, chaos prevails. It's in this context that the message of the Gita has become all the more relevant."
The guests unveiled the world's first English-language musical rendition of the Gita on the occasion.
Govinda Peetham's Peethadhipathi Sri Srirama Priya Swamy said, "Due to protocols in place, officials, leaders and gurus are not accessible to the common man." He also drove home the central message of the Gita. He added that LV Gangadhara Sastry of the Bhagavadgita Foundation has been doing the right thing by promoting the Gita.
Kala Janardhana Murthy, the chief of the Gana Sabha, said, "Gangadhara Sastry garu started out as a cine journalist. He has dedicated his life to the preaching of the Gita."
