FICCI Ladies Organization Interactive Session with Dia Mirza
FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO), a national body which is a division of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organized an interactive session with Model, Actor, Director, Producer, Activist Dia Mirza here in city today at Hotel Trident at Madhapur.
The session was participated by over 200 members of FLO.
Dia Mirza who hails from Hyderabad and educated in Vidyaranya; Stanely Girls High School and Andhra Pradesh Open University has a huge fan following in the city. She is a multifaceted personality. She is a model, actress, producer, painter, activist all in one. She is a woman with many talents. She won the 2000 Miss Asia Pacific International title. Armed with confidence and beauty, she stormed through the Miss Asia-Pacific beauty pageant, winning it after 29 years for India.
What makes her so multifaceted? We want to learn from her through this interaction said Monika Agarwal, Chairperson of FLO Hyderabad in her welcome address.
As women we are all multitasking most of the time but it generally slows us down. And the one thing we stop focusing on is our passion. It could be the passion for our creative side or our passion of working for a social cause. Dia has balanced both of these very well said Monika.
I believe that we all go through the stress of wearing too many hats at one time or another. It can be a struggle. You have to shift your balance and re-arrange, and sometimes even topple over, Monika added.
Planning, organising, scheduling, building a great support system definitely helps you. But it is the energy, and the feeling of a job well done which actually keeps you moving forward continuously. So put your hats on, and be grateful that you have so many, Monika said.
With her angelic looks, advertisement offers weren't that hard for her to come by when she launched herself at the age 16years .Working for brands like Lipton and Walls Ice Cream, she built her confidence ahead of her glamorous participation for the Miss Asia-Pacific title.
This success opened the doors of Bollywood for Dia and her extensive modeling career. Recognizing the talent, Vashu Bhagnani handed Dia her big bollywood Debut 'Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein'. This cemented her position in Bollywood and saw her grow from a shy debutante to an actress of substance. Over the years, the talented actor has been seen in a number of movies, which have showcased her versatility.
In her film career spanning over a decade she acted in films like: Love Breadup Zindagi; Kurbaan; Fruit & Nut; Kisaan; Jai Veeru; Om Jai Jagadish; Blakmail, Parineeta, Dus and many more.
She is equally known for community and social work. Besides being an Acrtor, Director, Producer, she proved as a good humanitarian too.
From female feticide to rural and educational development, Dia has been at the forefront of burning issues that affect our lives on a regular basis. She has been a continuous part of NDTV's Greenathon since its inception and still continues to do so. She has also collaborated with various NGOs like Cancer Patients Aid's Association, Spastics Society of India, PETA, CRY.
Dia recently added a new dimension to her creative aspirations. In 2012, she turned producer along with writer-director Sahil Sangha to form Born Free Entertainment.
