Villa Festa 2011-12 Carnival
Villa Marie College, Somajiguda, Hyd, celebrated CARNAVAL - 2011 - The Villa Festa on 23rd Dec'11 from 10:00 a.m onwards in their college premises.
Magnificence and opulence are the trademarks of all happenings at Villa Marie. The week preceding the Villa Festa witnessed an array of interesting events presented by the Degree and Junior Collegeswhich saw a huge participation from the students. On the 16th of Dec'11, the Sports Day was held amidst much fanfare. A number of races like the lemon-'n'-spoon race, sack-race, relay-race, tug of war, had the students asking for more. 'Unusual Stretches'- a creative story writing competition was also held early in the day for the inter students.
On the 17th of Dec, DHOL BAJE - Villa Dandiya was organized as part of villa fete. A variety of food, games and accessories stalls were put up much to the shoppers 'delight'. The inter students decorated the college with Floral Rangoli to add to the decor. The event was judged by Ms.Jigna Mehta and Ms.Deepthi, two prominent and multi talented women known for their creativity.
On the 19th of Dec, the degree college dance competition "Topsy - Turvy" saw students vying with each other over the songs of the 80's and 90's. Villa - Nightingale saw the students crooning solo and group numbers, Nail - 0 - Mania- nail art and Healthy Breakfast were among the other competitions held that day. On the 20th of Dec, the junior college dance competition "Kajra - re ;::: sangeet masti" saw many a fun-filled performance on this traditional Indian wedding festivity. The eminent judges were Ms.Renu Sukheja, president of Aastha club, Ms.Kavya, runner up Ms.South India and Mr.Navdeep the very famous Tollywood star.. Floral Arrangement Guldasta had the students arranging flowers in unique way. On this day prizes were given to the winners of various events conducted this far.
On the 21st Pot Painting 'n' Decoration, Ecstasies - Card Making, Andaz - Saree Draping left the audience spell - bound by the talent of the students. The Degree College presented COUTURE - LA MODE a fashion show comprising bridal wear, evening gowns and Indo - western wear.
Finally the 23rd of Dec saw the culmination of these week long activities in CARNAVAL - 2011. The students put up amazing performances on the theme " International Flavours with Bollywood Tadka" where the students from the degree college presented international dance styles like salsa, cha-cha, disco to name a few and the inter college students presented Bollywood Dhamaal which showcased the distinct dance styles of prominent Bollywood heroes. The Christmas pageant reflected the true spirit of love, cheer and peace.
The Principal Dr. Philomena.Y. applauded the students on their wonderful performance in all the activities and exhorted them to work harder and excel in all their endeavours.
