Amala launches Ravita Mayor's Fashion Studio
After a much acclaimed fashion show titled Weaving Magic, held at Taj Deccan in December 2011 in Hyderabad, Ravita Mayor created a unique space for herself in fashion circles in Hyderabad and in India. Her signature remains a blend of traditional hand-weaves and modern designs to create a unique range of clothing. Trained in fashion designing at the New York University, her vision is to make designer clothing affordable and easy to wear. She now opens her studio and outlet in Banjara Hills to showcase her collection and exhibit her pret line for the discerning clients of Hyderabad. The studio will be formally opened on 6 July 2012 by Amala Akkineni.
Empowering women crafts-worker's and weavers from across the country drives Ravita's passion to create designs and garments using their talent. She has over twenty- five women tailors whom she has trained; these women are sole bread winners of their family and come from remote villages of Andhra Pradesh.
The weavers and embroiders are spread across the country; right now she is concentrating on Maheswari, North-eastern and Andhra weaves. Going right into the heart of the weaver's villages in these regions demonstrates her hands on approach to ensure productivity, quality. This model will be extended to other parts of the country to revive the dying crafts, and make it sustainable.
Besides incorporating weaves in her couture line, she is also used them in her new pret line collection.
