Presentation Ceremony of P. Susheela Award 2013 to Vani Jayaram
P Suseela Award is given away every year to the most deserved persons from music department. P Suseela started this custom by establishing a trust in 2008. So for the year 2013, veteran playback singer Vani Jayaram received P Suseela award in the grand award function held on Monday morning at Ravindra Bharati in Hyderabad. Senior actress Jamuna felicitated Vani Jayaram with the shawl and garland. President of Telugu Language Association, Mandali Buddaprasad presented the cheque of Rs 1 lakh and the memento on behalf of the trust and the Award along with Rs 50,000/- cheque was presented by Suseela’s brother P Ramachandra Rao.
Later addressing the gathering senior actress Jamuna commented, “P Suseela used to modulate her voice to suit the respective heroines and sing songs. Her voice is apt for me on the screen. Suseela’s voice is one of the reasons for my getting good reputation. Vani Jayaram earned good name in Telugu despite being a Tamil sister.”
Award recipient Vani Jayaram said, “This is one of the memorable days in my life. Even though I started singing songs from my school days, I got inspired by Suseela’s songs.” Jayaram said that she even sang few songs along with P Suseela and croons few of them on the stage. “Suseela’s pronunciation was perfect in any language that she sang songs. She is not just a good singer but also a good human being. That’s why I like her very much. I consider myself very fortunate and blessed to receive this award on her name,” Vani Jayaram added.
P Suseela said, “I started singing songs from the age of seven and I was able to come up to this status only with the support and encouragement by the people. I started my film journey with the song in ‘Kanna Thalli’ and am honored to work with several music directors, singers and lyricists. My first song was under the composition of Pendyala Nageswara Rao. Along with him, I got the opportunity to work with S Rajeswara Rao, Ghantasala, M S Vishwanathan, Mahadevan, Chakravarthy, etc., and the working experience with them is simply unforgettable.” Suseela shared her working experience with Pendyala for the song ‘Meera Jaalagaladaa…’ in ‘Sri Krishna Tulabharam’. “I’m very happy to present the award to Vani Jayaram , who earned place in the people’s heart through several beautiful songs in Telugu, Tamil, English and Spanish,” Suseela said.
The award function started off with colourful events. Rao Balasaraswathi Devi, L R Eeshwari, Manju Barghavi, JSP Sailaja, Vijaya Lalitha, Sunitha, Kausalya, Nithya Santoshini, Sandhya, Swapna, Jaya Lalitha, Dehli Rajeshwari, senior singer V Ramakrishna, music directors M M Sri Lekha, K M Radhakrishanan, young heroes, Baladitya, Sai Kiran, etc., were presented in the award function.
