Indradhanush: Bhavan's Vivekananda College Yuva Mahotsav 2013 (Day 1)
As a part of the 126th birth anniversary of Kulapati Dr. K M Munshi , an eminent politician, writer & educationalist who was the founder of BHARATIYA VIDYA BHAVAN , the grand cultural fest of yuva mahotsav -2013 themed “Indradhanush - celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema” heralded its two day celebrations on 30th & 31st of December.
Hon.Director , Col. (Retd)M. VIJAY RAO , stressed upon the spirit of Yuva mahotsav and termed it as a “stress buster” for all the bhavanites.
The Principal, Prof. Prof. Y ASHOK asked the students to, “let their hair down and enjoy themselves”
Mrs.B.Niraimathi, Head , Department of Physics and Electronics wished everybody ,”a very happy “ yuva mahotsav”.
Mrs. Ujjwala Desai, Co-coordinator of “XPRESSIONZ CLUB”, extended a warm welcome to celebrate the 8th yuva-mahotsav which ushers in the New Year with cultural & educational programmes.
Yuva-Mahotsav 2013 is a one stop programme for everything fun based. It creates an atmosphere of joyousness & festivity among the students.
The events were split into 2 halves-on stage and off stage events.
The 1st event, RANGOLI with the theme shad ruthu kick started at 11am in the science quadrangle. The event was carried on with the students showcasing modern variations in their designs by using colored sand, natural colours and various design plates.
The second event master chef was conducted in the commerce quadrangle at 12 pm where participants presented their culinary skills by displaying a variety of Indian vegetarian continental dishes .Meals were judged on nutrition and taste by a panel of 3 judges.
The on- stage events commenced with solo singing & dancing competitions in classical style. The standout of singing competition was the Thyagaraja Kruti and Annamacharya Keerthana where as in the case of dance was Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi.
The next performance was instrumental music in classical and western styles which received a wave of delight from the audience as they were able to connect with the performer.
The skit put up by the students threw light on various aspects such as,The need to respect women, To believe in yourself and not in superstitions, Effect of films on the students & the society, The need for entertainment in a stundent’s everyday life.
The day ended on a high note with western dance performed with a zealous spirit.
