The Making of the 3D Trophy
At the 59th Idea Filmfare Awards get a peek into the three- dimensional trophy designed keeping in mind the futuristic theme. The 3D trophy was created using SLA process (StereolithographicAparatus). This process involves three steps. The first step is digital sculpting where a 3D model is created on the computer screen, which is then converted to a machine compatible STL file. The second step involves design and stability checks of the file that is then loaded onto the 3D printer. The model is then printed layer-by-layer, similar to how a model made in CAD where each element is drawn on a photo polymer. Lastly, the raw parts of the trophy are cleaned, polished and painted to get the finished three-dimensional trophy.
One of the main components of the trophy is ABS-PC (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene – Poly Carbonate), a strong enduring material that gives an excellent finish to the trophy once painted with metallic black paint.
3D printing of the Black Lady allowed us to detail the base, which is the blossomed lotus, on which the lady stands. While the Black Lady is retained in its original entirety.
This heralds the Awards progression to a New Age Entertainment Metrics
