Indiamore - A Unique Concert by French Composer Christophe Chassol
Pianist, composer, arranger and musical director, Christophe Chassol discovered music at the age of four. Impressed by the soundtrack of the film La Tour Infernale and after sixteen years of studies at the Conservatory, his ambition from the very start was to compose for films, unite sounds and images to produce music of great elegance, in the tradition of Jerry Goldsmith Michel, Magne and Quincy Jones. In the mid-90s, he began composing for the big screen, television and advertising. From.1994 to 2002, he became a conductor and then discovered the world of pop music after accompanying artists such as Phoenix and Sebastien Tel lier.
Today, Chassol is the author of an unclassifiable oeuvre. His compositions articulate voice, music, sounds and images in a very innovative way, with the concept of 'harmonizing of the real' at the heart of his approach.
Chassol's new show: INDIAMORE was presented in India for the first time as a part of the Bonjour India 2013 Festival organized by the French Embassy/ Institut francais in India. Improvising piano harmonies on the images of a film shot in Kolkata and Varanasi in July 2012, Chassol pays a breathtaking tribute to the unrevealed melodies of India. While the film crosses the lives of musicians, singers, dancers, but also taxi drivers, fishermen and children — the piano chords create unforeseen, almost magical musical encounters. The performance met with tremendous success in India, and was then performed in Paris and New York. In 2014 the French Embassy / Institut francais in India brings Chassol back to the sub-continent for a great 10-city tour.
