The Bombay Irani cafe and bar, SodaBottleOpenerWala, has a special treat in store for Christmas and New Year. Welcome to our very own Parsi Bhonu, showcased alongside our signature attractions. This special Festive Bhonu will be served till January 15th, 2016 and is packed full of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

These liberal, festive non vegetarian and vegetarian thalis are not found on the regular menu and guests are encouraged to try them for a more extensive and authentic Parsi food experience. The Bhonu features ten dishes, which are a mix of dry starters, condiments, gravy and mains, along with three desserts.

Pulao and Dal, featured in Parsi meals on most days and celebrations are specifically highlighted.

The non vegetarian and vegetarian dishes, specially curated by our Parsi chefs, will have you coming back for seconds and thirds. The sumptuous spread will include lip-smacking condiments like Homemade Brinjal Pickle and Tomato Chutney, the Navsari Potato Salad, a sweet and sour potato salad tossed in Kolah vinegar dressing which tastes divine, and Saria, a traditional Parsi rice papad which adds crunch to the meal.

We can’t forget Kachumbar, a simple and refreshing house salad of onion, tomatoes and cucumber which is a mainstay in Parsi cuisine. Vegetable or Chicken Rajpipla is also presented.

The dish originates from the former Kingdom of Rajpipla in Gujarat and at SodaBottleOpenerWala, it is created with vegetables, paneer or chicken. The Bambaiyya Potato Fry is a moreish options of potatoes fried and tossed in a delicious Bombay-style masala, Fish Cutlets are served the classic Parsi way (wouldn’t you like to try?), Parsi Masala Dal is a wholesome, traditional dal cooked with vegetables and Parsi masalas, while Vegetable or Chicken Pulao beckons with fragrant rice.

Wipe everything down with Rotlis or whole-wheat chappatis, rolled thin … what else, but the Parsi way.

After you’ve downed your share of the thali, prepare yourself for the second wave: a dose of Parsi meetha with a choice of mouthwatering desserts. Consider SodaBottleOpenerWala’s sinful mini Falooda; a classic Bombay flavoured falooda with strawberry, or the zestful Daruwala Trifle which has Old Monk-soaked fruits, layered with jelly and custard. Or perhaps the Matunga Coffee Cake is more up your alley comprising a decadent and rich chocolate-coffee cake that’ll make your stomach sing.

Have some fun taking on some beloved Bawa and Bawi eccentricities. Pick up a pair of looking glasses and scan our Christmas tree replete with Parsi goodies like Nan Khatais, collection-worthy Bombay postcards, free cocktails and shots along with discount vouchers and gifts. In case you order a Bawa peg on Christmas Day, you automatically stand a chance to win prizes through our Christmas Lucky Draw.
