ACT Fibernet Sky Fest 2015, the biggest ever 5 Day Carnival in the history of Hyderabad to be kicked off tomorrow at 2.30pm at Gachibowli. K.T. Rama Rao, Minister of Information and Technology and Panchayat Raj will inaugurate the same.
Laxma Reddy, Minister for Health; Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary IT&C, Govt of Telangana will be guests of honour. Several celebrities, bureaucrats and others are also expected to grace the inaugural function
As run up to the inauguration tomorrow, hectic preparations were underway at Gachibowli stadium on Tuesday. The fest which begins tomorrow will go on for 5 days and will conclude on 27th. It will be open from 3pm to 11pm every day.
The ACT Fibernet Sky Fest offers unforgettable and memorable experience of Balloon Rides, Para Jumping, Mid Night Movies, Music Concerts, Carnival Acts, Shopping and Food all at one place, non-stop, five days like never before. Provides 9 hours of non stop entertainment and 40 types of adventurous sports and carnival acts and others.
The various programs lined up for the inaugural day tomorrow include Hot Air Balloon Long Rides in the morning at 6am, Joy rides are scheduled at 4pm. As part of the inauguration, Para Jumping will be held by Indian Air Force between 3 to 4pm. And it will be held for half an hour. The Para Jumping Instructors team led by Rahul Jha and team members P.R.Singh, A. Mohapatra, Mukesh, J Rajesh Dora, S. Yadav, DPS Chauhan, SKS Chauhan, S. Singh, Ak Tiwari and R. Singh inspected the place. Interacting with media one of the team members said it is for the second time they will be doing skydiving at Gachibowli. We have performed earlier once here. We do about 100 Para Jumping Every year they informed. We have also performed at many private festival and carnivals, take for example Dussehra Festival in Mysore, the said. We will jump from 8000 feet from a Helicopter and between 7000 to 4000 feet height, we will open our parachutes and perform various formations in the sky. When asked what kind of formations, they will do tomorrow, they said let it be remain secret till tomorrow they said.
Akash Ganga has all together about 25 Sky Divers, they said. We train army and various defence personnel said the instructors. Each of the team member has well over 1000 jumps to their credit. Some of them have even performed a record number of jumps of 2500 and above.
Carnival Parade, Float will be also held. DJ Aqeel concert is scheduled at 7pm. Shankar Mahadevan, an award winning composer and playback singer who was originally scheduled to perform on 23rd is unable to make it to the program due to health reasons. DJ Aqeel is roped in to perform in his place. Baahubali Hindi Movie will be screened as part of the Midnight movies scheduled at 10.30pm at Sky Fest.
Twenty Two different Carnival acts will be held on Wednesday. These include Street Magic and Illusion acts, Juggling, Acts by Michael Jackson look alike, B-Boers, Hip-Hop Dance, Jumping Rope, Indian Carnival Dance, Silk Show, Lazeum, Acrobats, Salsa Dance, Roller Balance, Clown Acts, Fire Dance, Mascots Acts and Carnival Parade.
ACT Fibernet Sky Fest 2015, which state government declared that it will be held annually is being organised by Rotary Club of Banjara Hyderabad, in aid of Sparsh Hospice. Sparsh Hospice is a charitable initiative of the club. Sparsh Hospice, has been providing free Palliative Care to the terminally ill patients for the past 7 years and seven hundred people have benefitted from this care. .
Sky Fest is organised in association with Government of Telangana, and many organisations.
Entry to the fest for a day is through a donor pass of Rs 150/- for adult and Rs 100/- for children. With this donor pass they gain entry to the fest, witness carnival, Para Jumping as well as food and shopping. The objective of ACT Fibernet Sky Fest 2015 is to raise awareness of free palliative care, counseling and raise funds for Sparsh Hospice. The event of this magnitude is planned to raise Rs 5.5 crore capital fund required to build its own premises and expand the capacity from current 15 to 50 beds. The trust has already approached government for a lease of land to construct the building, which is pending with the state government.
The activities that will take place every day during the next five days are as follows.
First time ever, Hyderabadis can explore skies of their own city in a hot air balloon. It will be a unique experience, only privileged few had until now on their trips abroad. Pass for the ride is available from Rs 2500/- onwards depends on the type of the ride and duration. There are two Balloon rides are available, the long rides and Jolly rides. The long rides will be held in the morning. Only a maximum of 100 rides are possible and all of them are already bought. This will go up to the height of 2000 feet and may last for 45 minutes depending on the weather condition. These rides cost Rs 15000/- inclusive pick up in luxury car from home, breakfast and drop back.
The tethered hot air balloon rides are basically a joy rides, which will be hooked with the rope and will go up to the height of 200 to 250 feet for maximum period of 25 minutes. Nearly 3000 people expected to utilized this ride in all five days together. Five balloons are lined up this purpose.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) Akash Ganga team to perform Para Jumping. Jagadish Ramadugu, Organising Secretary of Sky Fest informs that this is the first time Para Jumping is held at a festival in Hyderabad. Total twelve members, two officers and ten air men of Akash Ganga will perform Para Jumping every day starting from 23rd to 27th December. This will be held at 3pm on all the days. There is no extra ticket required for this. Those who purchased the entry pass to the fest can watch Para Jumping
The Akash Ganga team based at Agra has been performing these para jumping activities as peace time adventure activities. The concept which began to hone their aerial assault techniques for wartime operations has become the most sought after fun and adventure activity thanks to encouragement from The Indian Air Force informed Rammohan, President of Rotary Club of Banajara, Hyderabad.
The team will be dropped from 8000ft height from two helicopters.
Then they will have free fall for some distance. Then they activate their parachutes in mid way and perform few formations. And navigate so well with precision that they land in a pre determined circle on the ground.
Akash Ganga is the 14 member Sky diving team of the Indian Air Force. It was created in August 1987.
Para Jumping has over a period of time evolved in our country as a adventure sport. It was in 1987, The Indian Air Force launched Akash Ganga at the Air Force Station in Agra. The Akash Ganga Air Force team comprises the most dedicated, skilful and daredevil Para Instructors of the Paratroopers Training School. The enthusiasm and experience the instructors at Paratroop Training School (PTS) have gained in sky diving since its inception resulted in formation of the Sky Diving team for demonstration jumps.

Sparsh Hospice has been providing palliative care since 2008 to terminally ill patients particularly cancer patients. It is not just the patients alone, their attendants are also provided with free food and accommodation
Sparsh Hospice is a 15 bedded hospital located in a rented building in Banjara Hills. This biggest ever fund raising festival is organised to generate funds to expand its scope by adding new facility. The Trust spends Rs 3.5 lakh running it every month. Now there is a huge demand to accommodate more patients. Every year nearly 20,000 people are dying in twin cities. The demand for such care is exploding. There is no care extended by government in this area. Hence, a new facility is an urgent requirement.
The trust also enjoys exemption of donations under 80G(50 %) and 35 AC(100% to the extent of Rs 5.5crore).
It also has FCRA(Foreign Contribution Regulation Act) permission from the Central Government to raise donations from foreign sources. Global organisations with local presence can donate for the cause and still can get tax exemption in their respective countries.
