To be held as part of the “Happening Hyderabad”, the initiative of Government of Telangana
Dreams to make it global online with La Tomatina Festival in Spain; Tomorrowland in Belgium; Glastonbury — Glastonbury, England; Carnival — Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Wanderlust Yoga Festival — Oahu, Hawaii

The Hydourite festival is organised by the Hydourite Foundation – a not-for-profit Trust formed to promote a continuous interest towards art and culture in the current and future generation.

Hydourite Canvas an initiative where city paints their own identity. This one painting will be completed by many people starting from the most common man on the streets to the celebrities. This One canvas will bind them all. And it will be held from 12th to 15

Hyderabad, November 08, 2014: "India’s Longest Performing Arts Festival--Hydourite” to kick off next week in city. To be held are series of events for next hundreds days, all non-ticketed and free for the audiences, informed Ramakrishna Achanta.

Hydourite is the dream of three friends, the Trios' love for city took birth in 2012. A.V. Ramakrishna from Hyderabad, C.S. Manoj from Kerala and Capt. Anand from Chennai made Hyderabad their home and they love it the most. To show their love as well as be an example to others, all the three together conceived Hydourite, a festival to inculcate the spirit of Hyderabad three years ago. Today, this festival has become part of the “Happening Hyderabad”, an initiative of Government of Telangana. Hydourite is to Hyderabad, what Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is to Mumbai; ‘Bengaluru Habba’ - to Bengaluru; Sunburn, an electronic dance music festival to Goa; Rajasthan International Folk Festival (RIFF) to Jodhpur; and Konark Dance and Music Fest to Konark.

Now in our 3rd year our dream is to make it on par with global calendar events such as La Tomatina Festival in Spain; Tomorrow land in Belgium; Glastonbury — Glastonbury, England; Carnival — Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Wanderlust Yoga Festival — Oahu, Hawaii said Manoj.

This 3rd edition will kick off with a sneak preview of whole festival to the select and exclusive media gathering on 15th November 2014 informed Capt. Anand. We will have a Cultural Centre and Art Hub in the city. The details of the same are being worked out, he informed.

The Hydourite festival is organised by the Hydourite Foundation – a not-for-profit Trust formed to promote a continuous interest towards art and culture in the current and future generation.The trust also helps the underprivileged, who have interest in performing arts by facilitating a good tutor and help in providing the required instrument(s) to nurture the talent in them.

Jaikant Shroff, President of Hotels and Restaurant Association of Telangana State while addressing on the occasion said “life is sum of many activities. Similarly, a city is also like that”. The calendar of events this year include:-
Hydourite Canvas - 12th to 15th November 2014
A first time ever when the city paints its own identity. One painting completed by many people, starting from the most common man on the streets to the celebrities.One canvas to bind them all.

Melange - Hydourite Season 3 Curtain Raiser - 15th November 2014
Confluence of five varied art forms depicting the essence of Hydourite. Performances include Sand Art by KanthRisa, Hindustani Vocal by HariniRao, Flute by PramodUmapati, Kuchipudi and Perini Shiva Tandavam – all talents from our own city of Hyderabad.

Story Art India - 29th November 2014
DeepaKiran is a professional storyteller who goes beyond the routine of simple story telling. Her creative ways include clubbing story telling with folk arts and involving audiences to be an integral part.

Raghu Dixit - 06th December 2014
One of India's best contemporary folk bands, Raghu Dixit’s unique brand of infectious, happy music transcends age, genre, and even language. His music is strongly rooted in Indian traditions and culture and is presented with a very contemporary, global sound.

Vaikuntam - VaishnavaYatra - 13th December 2014
The first ever dance ballet to showcase all the 108 DivyaDesams (Vishnu Temples), this is a magnificent creation that is intricately woven with a stunning array of multimedia and musical elements. The unique feature of the imposing ballet is that it groups the 108 DivyaDesams into eight distinct clusters, based on their SthalaPuranam.

Agam Band - 20th December 2014
AGAM is a multiple award winning contemporary carnatic rock act. Their music combines the myriad hues of melodic scales and intricate rhythm structures offered by carnatic music with the aesthetic principles and tonal elegance from western world.

Antaram - 03rd January 2015
This thematic dance theatre production presents the composite content of the 3 chosen characters - Kannaki, Andal and Vasavi, depicting divine feminine form powerfully. Yamini Reddy portrays Vasavi in Kuchipudi, KrithikaSubrahmanian presents Andal in Bharatanatyam and GopikaVarma depicts Kannaki in Mohiniyattam. SuhasiniManiratnam with her theatrical presentation of poetry, song and script weaves through the production.

TrilokGurtu Band - 10th January 2015
TrilokGurtu, a leading Indian percussionist and composer, is known for his works blending the music of his homeland with jazz fusion, world music and other genres.

Bhavana Reddy Band - 17th January 2015
Bhavana Reddy is an acclaimed Indian Classical Dancer and Singer-Songwriter. Bhavanaalongwith International artists creates music that is an interesting blend of the Indian concept of melodies and the western concept of harmony, held by a string of poetry.

Hydourite Smiles - 24th January 2015
As part of its commitment to spread the festive spirit throughout Hyderabad, Hydourite will conduct a fun filled carnival exclusively for underprivileged kids.

Shambhavi Dance Ensemble - 31st January 2015
PrateekshaKashi, a noted Kuchipudi dancer, leads Shambhavi Dance Ensemble that is a thematic group presentation with multiple dancers. The concept, choreography and presentation have a flow that make it memorable.

Indian Ocean Band - 14th February 2015
Indian Ocean,a contemporary fusion music band with jazz-laced rhythms, are considered to be the pioneers of the fusion rock genre in India. Their unique sound of contemporary rock mixed with classical, jazz and fusion have earned them a cult following. The band has managed to maintain this inimitable sound in all their albums and have attained some rave reviews from critics.


Cultural Festivals like Hydourite are very important to bond people, inculcate sense of belongingness, connect them back to their roots and to showcase their culture. It is said the true patriotism is the love what one exhibits for their parents, mother tongue, birth place (Janmabhoomi) and culture. Globally Cultural Festivals, Cultural Tourism is engaged by many countries to ensure tourists inflow to their country and indirectly contribute to the economic growth of the city. More tourists’ inflowresults in more employment generation. The World Travel and Tourism Council calculated that India’s tourism industry contributes close to 7% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country and supports more than 40 Million jobs.

Culture is a unique tool that bonds people. Hydourite,conceived to get together all the Hyderabad loving people on to a single platformhasvarious kinds of events woven around the spirit of Hyderabad with many Hyderabadis taking part actively. A series of Festivals, Camps, Awareness Sessions, Talk Shows, etc. covering a broad spectrum of categories will be organised at various places in the city for free.

More activity ensures more buzz, more talk. When you engage people of a city culturally, there is a less possibility of them involving in hatred, violent activities.

Festivals like Hydourite are more important especially to the newly formed State to package Hyderabad well, brand it, position and market. The city and the State has so much of diversity and special things, which are unique to our state only such as Bathukamma, Bonalu, Nirmal Handicrafts, Filigri, Pembarthi Metal Crafts.

In five years from now, we will make this event grow much beyond anybody’s expectation and it would be one such event that people will eagerly look forward to. We will make it a signature annual event for the city. We made a humble beginning three years back. Nearly 2 lakhHyderabadis attended our events so far. This year the magnitude of the event has gone up. More than 1.2 lakhaudiences are expected to grace our events, informed Ramakrishna.

Some of the prominent programs organised as part of Hydouritein its Season 1 in 2012 were Dasha-Avatara, a multi art form performance;Femme Fusion, All Women Concert;‘Manoranjan Tax Free’, a Comedy play; Sufusion, a unique blend of Sufi and Fusion Music;A multilingual, multimedia dance feature ‘Sri VenkatadriVaibhavam’;‘BandishProjekt’, a Eletronica Dance Music with Urban Folk; etc., apart from the various cultural events.

Hydourite Season 2 in 2013 presented‘Ability Unlimited’ - a performance by a troupe of physically and auditory challenged artists from Delhi;‘Love on the Brink’ playby LilletteDubey;Ananda Fusion Band by our own Hyderabadi brothers; ‘Swarathma’ the folk rock band; Vibrations the World Music Fusion Band with Pt. RonuMajumdar; the enthralling sitar performance Ravi Chary Crossing; a life stimulating experience‘Essence of Life’ based onJidduKrishnamurti’s teachings; the soulful Sitar tribute to Bharat Ratna Pt. Ravi Shankar with SitaarJhankaar; the International music of Prem Joshua and Band; Samarpan a musical offering by talented youthful artists; and the big bang closing of Hydourite Season 2 with New Life - A unique Fusion of World percussions & Jazz with Sufi, Ghazals& Indian Classical music, featuring Internationally acclaimed Master Percussionist Sivamani, alongwith the fastest Indian on Keyboards Stephen Devassy and the mesmerising Sufi Singer RunaRizvi.
