If it’s Rajni for Rana, it’s Rana for Rajni

Being part of prominent film family always pays, that too if one has looks and abilities the dividends are very high. This is something Rana Daggubati seems to have understood very well. Formally getting trained through institutes Rana made a proper entry through ‘Leader’ which fetched good reviews. This was followed by his Bollywood flick ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ and from then on he is constantly in the news.

RGV had to face the ire of Amitabh and others when he decided to cast Rana instead of Abhishek Bachchan in his next film ‘Department’. This apart, Prakash Tholeti was quick to book him for a Telugu flick ‘Naa Ishtam’. Not content with this, Rana conveyed his desire to do a Tamil film as he was brought up in Chennai and he had good control over the language. So Selva Raghavan who was already in talks with him for a film in Telugu could not kick it off due to certain budget issues. While we find Telugu project getting shelved due to budget problems it is surprising to see how Suresh Babu, the producer, is willing to take up a Tamil project with the same director. Interestingly, Selva Raghavan is said to have given the title for this film as ‘Rajni’.

During a period when Rajni is doing a movie titled ‘Rana’ it is indeed seen as a kind of gimmick to name Rana’s movie as ‘Rajni’. To add fuel to the fire both the films will be period films. Whether it is an ad to Rajni’s ‘Rana’ or Rana’s ‘Rajni’ only time will tell.
