Legendary actress Sridevi is no more

Legendary Indian actress Sridevi passed away on Saturday night in UAE at the age of 54 after reportedly suffering from cardiac arrest. Her death was confirmed by her family, who were attending a wedding with her in Dubai. According to the reports, her Husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi were with her when she died.

She was born to Ayyappan and Rajeswari in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu on August 13, 1963. Sridevi started her career as child artist at the age of four with Tamil film ‘Thunaiva’. She worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films before debuting in Bollywood. The veteran actress made her Bollywood debut as child artist with ‘Julie’ in 1975. Her first adult role was at the age of 13 with the film ‘Moondru Mudichu’ in 1976. She made her Bollywood debut as lead actress with the film ‘Solva Sawan’ and starred in more than 150 films after that.

She soon became a superstar in Bollywood as well. After a 15-year-long hiatus, Sridevi made her comeback in Bollywood with ‘English Vinglish’ as a demure wife and after a gap of 5 long years she came up with revenge thriller titled ‘Mom’ and this was her last Hindi film.

Sridevi was nominated for 10 Filmfare Awards and won five. Indian government awarded her the Padma Shri in 2013. Sridevi is survived by her husband Boney Kapoor, and her children Jhanvi and Khushi.
