Amitji won’t be doing Zanjeer remake – Apoorva Lakhia

Few days ago, Bollywood reports claimed that Amitabh Bachchan would be doing a cameo role in Ram Charan, Priyanka and Sanjay Dutt starrer ‘Zanjeer’. But the actor rubbishes away the reports saying that he is not doing any role in ‘Zanjeer’. Reason being his commitment to Prakash Jha’s ‘Satyagraha’ has prevented him from accepting the offer and appearing in the remake movie as a senior cop. Big B has grown a long beard for ‘Satyagraha’ and he felt that police officers will not have such long beard. Therefore he politely rejected the offer. However, the actor is impressed with the trailer showed by filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia.

Commenting on ‘Zanjeer’ trailer, Amitabh posted on twitter, “Apoorva Lakhia showed me the trailer of ‘Zanjeer’ remake… smashing stuff … all good wishes to the team cast and crew.”

It’s a known fact that Amitabh Bachchan played the iconic cop Vijay in the original ‘Zanjeer’ directed by Prakash Mehra in 1973, which turned out to be his first blockbuster film and was a turning point of his career. Apoorva Lakhia, who is directing the remake version too clarified saying, “It would have been an honor for us to have the India’s most iconic actor in the film but Amithi won’t be doing the cameo role in ‘Zanjeer’.”

On Tuesday, Sanjay Dutt completed his dubbing work for ‘Zanjeer’ and received a cheque of Rs.1.5 crores as dubbing fee. ‘Zanjeer’ is simultaneously being made in Telugu as ‘Toofan’. The first look poster and the trailer which were released recently got tremendous response.
