Chandamama Kathalu - A Beggar’s Mirage

Let me introduce the crown jewel of all the stories, The Beggar. He is born at the signal light. He grew up watching the landscape of the signal change as he is begging. He doesn’t know who his father or his mother is. He is 60 and has lived all his life at the same signal. He has seen the worst days and lived through ghastly seasons, trashy conditions and public humiliations. After almost going through every bad thing that a human being could possibly experience, it is very natural but to become numb. He becomes oblivious to everything happening around him and tunes himself to one single goal, His own place for at least one peaceful nights’ sleep.

For once in his life, he wants to experience a quite night’s sleep without noises of speeding vehicle, smell of filth or policemen bothering him. He keeps staring at the sign board “For Sale” hanging on a tiny house everyday in a hope to own it one day.

Will the beggar live his dream? What is the role of his story in the overall aspect of the film?

This story dwells in to the inner aspects of human aspirations and dreams. A little known actor/writer, Krishneswara Rao played the role of the beggar.

After introducing the final character of Chandamama Kathalu in the next couple of days, we will move on to our next segment called “Straight from the Horses’ Mouth”. Stay tuned in!
