‘Oopiri’ unit offers condolences to popular Malayalam film actress Kalpana

Popular actress Urvashi’s sister Kalpana passed away on Monday (Jan 25) in Hyderabad due to massive heart attack in a private hospital. According to initial reports Veteran actor Kalpana, , who made audiences laugh and cry with her performances, had reached Hyderabad on Sunday afternoon for shooting a bi-lingual film (Tamil and Telugu) ‘Oopiri’ starring Nagarjuna and Karthi, and was staying at a hotel in the city. Shooting of scenes related to her have been completed by Sunday. This evening, she has to attend a private function also. The 50-year-old actress had made her Malayalam film debut with MT Vasudevan Nair’s 1983 film Manju and two years later in Tamil with the film Chinna Veedu and went on to act in over 300 films in Malayalam and Tamil. Kalpana had bagged the National Award for the Best Supporting Actress for her performance in 'Thanichalla Njan'. She is well known to Telugu audience with the films include ‘Sathi Leelavathi’ and ‘Kaliveedu’.

‘Oopiri’ team offered condolence for the sudden demise of Kalpana. After knowing about the incident, hero karthi immediately rushed to the hospital and looking after the responsibilities. Akkineni Nagarjuna, Vamsi Paidipalli and PVP along with the film unit members reached there and offered their condolences.

‘Oopiri’ producer PVP said, “Kalpana is a great actress. She did best role in ‘Oopiri’. Our unit members were very saddened with the sudden demise of Kalpana who acted till her last breath. We pray to God that her soul rest in peace. Our heartfelt condolences to her family.”
